Away Manchester City

Match Summary

1 Look out for:

Manchester City to continue their rich vein of scoring. The runaway leaders have notched over 90 goals this season and have put even the very best teams to the sword. City are 9/1 to score three times in the opening half of play.

2 We fancy:

Toure to bag from a free-kick or penalty at 13/5. The big Ivorian has found game time hard to come by in the league but is a regular in the cups. Toure will be on dead-ball duties and will be eager to contribute in his swansong season at the club.

3 It's a long shot, but…

Cardiff to pull off a 1-0 success is 95/4. The Bluebirds will hope they can frustrate City and if they can get to the hour mark still in the contest, confidence will soar. All it takes is a goalmouth scramble to land at the feet of a home shirt or Sol Bamba to make his presence known from a corner.

Manager Neil Warnock handed starts to January loanees Marko Grujic and Yanic Wildschut in the stalemate away at Sheffield Wednesday last weekend, and both will give fresh impetus in the race for a top two finish.

Liverpool-owned Grujic is likely to keep his place in the starting XI this time around having impressed Warnock on debut, though influential winger Junior Hoilett may sit out the tie with more pressing matters elsewhere.

Pep Guardiola is still without the services of Gabriel Jesus but the Brazilian is making good progress from the knee injury he picked up against Crystal Palace on New Year’s Eve.

In his place, Aguero has struck seven times and should only feature from the bench in the cup. Raheem Sterling, who has operated as a false nine for City in the past, could occupy the leading role on the day which would allow a rare start for Bernando Silva on the right flank.

Cardiff City vs Manchester City Betting Tips, Preview & Predictions

Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has been in superb goalscoring form of late

The Bluebirds are flying high in third spot in the league, a mere two points off Derby County. In Warnock, Cardiff have a Championship specialist at the helm and may yet be heading for a trip to Wembley.

The hosts are 10/1 for the win, ending any hopes of a historic quadruple for the Blues. Cardiff can take heart from rivals Wolves who took Guardiola’s side all the way to penalties in the Carabao Cup earlier on in the campaign.

City are 2/7 to march on and have an embarrassment of riches to choose from. If maestro Kevin De Bruyne is rested, Ilkay Gundogan is likely to step in. Similarly, Yaya Toure may deputise for David Silva. Realistically, the Citizens should make light work of the clash despite making wholesale changes, such is the depth in their ranks.

Leroy Sane is the 3/1 favourite to open the scoring, and the flying German looks a good bet to add to his tally of 10 for the year. Sane has dazzled throughout the season and it will be a long afternoon for the Cardiff right-back.

Joe Ralls is the Bluebirds’ top scorer in the Championship with seven goals, and he’s 16/1 to hit the last goal of the showdown. The midfielder has two from his last four appearances and will back himself against a much changed City backline.

Predicted Score: Cardiff City 1 - 5 Manchester City
