Betting Tips & Predictions

Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino reacts after a missed chance at goal during the Premier League match at Anfield, Liverpool.

Burnley’s pursuit of the top six will continue when they welcome top-four hopefuls Liverpool to Turf Moor on New Year’s Day. The Clarets have won five of their 10 home Premier League matches this season, but will welcome a Liverpool side that have managed 27 goals on the road this term. Sean Dyche’s side will be looking for another positive result against Liverpool following the 1-1 draw at Anfield in the reserve match earlier this season.

Burnley are 7/1 to triumph as they look to bounce back from their 3-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on home soil last time out. Dyche’s side have won five of their 10 home Premier League matches this season, but they have scored just seven times at Turf Moor, which is the second-worst record in the division. That said, the Clarets have only conceded six goals on home soil this term.

Liverpool are 4/7 to win it as the Reds look to record their sixth Premier League away victory of the season. Jurgen Klopp’s side have managed 27 goals in their 10 away league fixtures to date, but they have conceded 20 times, which is among the worst defensive records in the division. Liverpool also lost 2-0 when they travelled to Burnley in the corresponding Premier League game last season.

The draw is at 19/5 and it is worth remembering that the two teams played out a 1-1 draw at Anfield earlier this season. Burnley have only drawn twice at Turf Moor this term, but Liverpool shared the points in their last away game in the Premier League at Arsenal.

Sam Vokes is 17/2 in the first goalscorer market and the Wales international will fancy his chances of causing Liverpool’s unsettled defence problems. Vokes can also be backed at 16/1 to score two or more times during the 90 minutes of football.

Roberto Firmino is 4/1 in the first goalscorer market for Liverpool and the Brazilian can be backed at 10/1 to net two or more goals. He scored twice against Swansea City on Boxing Day, and has been in impressive form for the Reds in recent weeks.

Match Summary

1

Look out for:

The match result and under 2.5 goals market has some terrific value. The draw under those circumstances can be backed at 23/5, while Liverpool to win is 14/5.

2

We fancy:

Correct score of 1-1 is available at 8/1. There will not be an awful lot between the two teams at Turf Moor. Liverpool are a big threat in the final third, but Burnley are such a strong defensive unit.

3

It’s a long shot, but:

Burnley to win 3-1 is available at 70/1. Some would say that Liverpool are due a defeat in the Premier League, especially considering their problems in defence. Burnley could well serve up a New Year’s Day treat for their supporters at Turf Moor.
