Burnley vs Chelsea Betting Tips, Preview & Predictions

In a sentence:  Unlikely European contenders Burnley welcome Chelsea to Turf Moor eyeing a sixth straight Premier League win as the Blues chase a top four lifeline.

Last time: A tough 1-1 draw was played out the last time Chelsea traveled to Burnley. Both goals came in the first half with Pedro scoring in the 7th minute for the Blues, while Robbie Brady equalised in the 24th minute during a February 2017 top flight encounter.

This time: Burnley are 14/5 to win with Chelsea at 10/11 and the draw 13/5.

You might remember: In 1965, Burnley put a major dent in Chelsea’s title hopes by hammering them 6-2 at Turf Moor. The Blues ultimately ended the season in third, five points behind both Manchester United and Leeds with the Red Devils taking the title on goal difference.

Betting Tips & Predictions

Sean Dyche has guided Burnley to the brink of European football, and the Clarets can do the double over Chelsea with a victory in this midweek fixture

Burnley’s remarkable rise to the cusp of Europe this season is nothing short of a miracle. The unfancied Clarets find themselves just two points behind the mighty Gunners in the league and chasing European football for next season. For Chelsea, a sublime comeback against Southampton at the weekend masked serious behind the scenes issues with this Premier League preview making this a closer game than you might have thought 12 months ago.

Burnley are 3/1 to win and despite the Clarets’ lofty position, home form has not been as strong as Sean Dyche would have liked with more points being acquired away from Turf Moor this season. However, Chelsea have lost five times on the road and Burnley did beat the Blues at Stamford Bridge earlier in the season, making one of the football predictions for this game that it’s set to be a fiery affair.

Chelsea are 10/11 to win and normally that would be one of the best football betting tips in a game like this. However, things are a little different and it is the home side who boast the strong form with five straight wins. Antonio Conte’s side look like they are heading to the beach early, meaning today’s football prediction would be to avoid a Blues win at odds on.

The draw is 12/5 and this could be where the smart money goes. Burnley boasts the joint-highest amount of draws this season of sides in the top 10, with four of them coming at home. The Clarets have also only conceded 13 goals at home this season which is a meaner defence than heavyweights Chelsea and the same as champions Manchester City.

Under 2.5 goals is 4/6 and could be one of the best football score predictions for this game. Burnley boast one of the best home defensive records and Chelsea have only scored nine times in their last seven, with three of those coming against Southampton last time out.

Chris Wood to score anytime is 9/4 and at that price is one of the best Premier League predictions for this week’s games. The Kiwi has netted nine times in the league for the Clarets this season, but more importantly has five in his last five.

Predicted Score: Burnley 1 - 1 Chelsea

Match Summary

Look out for:

Cards. The last time the pair met, 10 cards in total were shown with the Blues seeing two of their men receive their marching orders. Over 3.5 cards in this game is 5/6 and that is one of the best football predictions of the week.

We fancy:

Both teams to score and the result to be a draw is 15/4. Twice in the last four encounters between the two the game has ended in a 1-1 draw and that is the most likely scenario once again.

It’s a long shot, but:

Burnley to win 3-2 is 50/1. The Clarets did it Stamford Bridge back in August and on their current run of form, it is worth a look at that price.
