Bournemouth vs Manchester United Betting Tips, Preview & Predictions

In a sentence: Manchester United will attempt to bounce back from their shock 1-0 home defeat to West Bromwich Albion when they travel to Bournemouth in the Premier League on Wednesday night.

Last time: United recorded a 1-0 win when the two teams met at Old Trafford earlier this season, with Romelu Lukaku scoring the only goal of the match.

This time: Bournemouth are 17/4 to triumph with Man United at 3/4 and the draw available at 3/1.

You might remember: Bournemouth recorded a 2-1 victory when the two teams met in the league for the first time in December 2015. Former United youngster Josh King scored the winner in the 54th minute of the clash at the Vitality Stadium.

Betting Tips & Predictions

manchester united football preview

Alexis Sanchez has improved after a shaky start to life at Old Trafford, but even he was ineffective against West Brom and must prove his worth as Manchester United travel to Bournemouth in midweek

Man United handed Manchester City the 2017-18 Premier League title when they suffered a shock 1-0 home defeat against West Brom on Sunday afternoon. Mourinho’s side entered the match off the back of five straight Premier League wins, but incredibly lost to the league’s basement side at Old Trafford. On Wednesday, they will be looking to return to winning ways against a Bournemouth side that have only won one of their last eight in the top flight. It should be an open and entertaining match as both teams look to respond from disappointing defeats.

Bournemouth are 17/4 as Eddie Howe’s side look to bounce back from their 3-0 defeat at Liverpool on Saturday night. The Cherries were well beaten by Jurgen Klopp’s team on Merseyside, and the defeat means that they have only won one of their last eight in the Premier League. A total of 38 points has left them in a respectable 11th position, but they have been inconsistent on home soil this season – winning six, drawing five and losing six of their 17 fixtures at the Vitality Stadium. That said, their only previous Premier League win over United came on their own ground.

Manchester United are 3/4 as Mourinho’s side continue their battle for second position in the Premier League table. It was always going to be a matter of when and not if City secured the title, but it came earlier than expected due to the Red Devils suffering a shock home defeat to West Brom. United, who are always the subject of interest in the Premier League predictions market, still hold second spot in the table, however, and securing that position is still in their own hands. The 20-time English champions have been victorious in nine of their 16 away Premier League fixtures this term, but will have one eye on their FA Cup semi-final with Tottenham Hotspur, which is worth considering when analysing the football score predictions for this match.

The draw is 3/1, which is good value when considering the best football betting tips. Bournemouth have drawn two of their last three Premier League matches, and three of their last six. United have actually only drawn three away league fixtures this term, which is relatively low, but as mentioned above in this Premier League preview, the Reds will have one eye on their FA Cup semi-final. That said, there has been a winner in five of the last six meetings between the two teams.

Callum Wilson is 15/2 in the first goalscorer market, while the Bournemouth forward is at 27/10 to score at any stage of the match. Wilson came off the bench in his team’s 3-0 defeat at Liverpool last time out, and will be hoping to start here as he looks to add to the seven Premier League goals he has managed this season.

Romelu Lukaku is 18/5 in the first goalscorer market, while the Belgium international is at 5/1 to score two or more goals during the 90 minutes of action. Lukaku struggled to make his mark in United’s home defeat to West Brom at the weekend, but the former Everton forward has managed 26 goals during an impressive first season at Old Trafford.

Predicted Score: Bournemouth 1 - 2 Manchester United

Match Summary

Look out for:

The first goalscorer market. Both managers will make changes from their weekend matches, and that creates uncertainty surrounding team selection. Aside from the options mentioned above in this Premier League preview, Anthony Martial is at 11/2 for United, while Josh King is 19/2 for the home side.

We fancy:

Today’s football prediction is Man United to win with both teams on the scoresheet at 12/5. We fancy the 20-time English champions to put another victory on the board, but expect Bournemouth to find the back of the net.

It’s a long shot, but:

Man United have conceded twice in each of their last two Premier League away matches, and lost 2-0 at Tottenham earlier this year. Bournemouth to win 2-0 in this game is available as high as 30/1, which is a healthy price when analysing the football predictions market.
