Match Summary

1 Look out for:

Rotherham’s attacking consistency. The Millers have alternated between looking ruthless and toothless up front, with their recent 2-2 draw against Stoke contrasted by a 1-0 defeat by Wigan. If they can get going, however, Paul Warne has a dangerous front line.

One to Watch: Lukas Jutkiewicz

The English forward has been one of Garry Monk’s standout performers this season, having notched up three league goals and an assist so far. However, it is Jutkiewicz’s all-round game that has impressed the manager, with his ability to operate as a target man providing a vital outlet for the side.

A red card to Birmingham City’s Maikel Kieftenbeld leaves the midfielder suspended for this weekend’s fixture. Garry Monk will therefore likely bring in Charlie Lakin to an otherwise-unchanged XI.

Paul Warne may have no fresh injury concerns but has had to make do without Darren Potter so far this season, while Sean Ragget is also sidelined through injury.

Birmingham City vs Rotherham United Betting Tips, Preview & Predictions

Will Birmingham have cause for celebration this weekend?

Rotherham United travel to Birmingham City this weekend looking to end the Blues’ seven-game unbeaten streak. The Millers have been in inconsistent form in the early season but could overtake their opponents with a win and have a game in hand.

Birmingham are 3/5 to win, and Garry Monk will hope that he can build on his side’s recent results, turning draws into wins. The Midlands club have looked decent so far this season and managed a win against Leeds recently but will need to be beating the likes of Rotherham and Ipswich if they are to pursue any higher ambitions.

Rotherham are 19/4 to win, with Millers fans surely desperate for their side to gain some consistency after impressive results against Derby County and Stoke City, detracted by losses to the likes of Hull City and Nottingham Forest. If Paul Warne can get his team to play as well as they did in a recent away draw to Brentford, they might well have a chance.

A draw is 11/4 and is a likely result, given Birmingham’s record this season and Rotherham also picking up their first draw of the season last weekend.

Che Adams is 5/1 to score first, having hit the back of the net three times this season, playing up front alongside Lukas Jutkiewicz. Despite starting slowly, the attacker scored both goals against Leeds United and his new-found confidence is reflected in his play at the moment.

Michael Smith is 10/1 to score first, despite occupying the centre-forward spot for Rotherham. The striker has just one goal this season and will be desperate to prove himself to Warne, with competition in his role heating up.

Predicted Score: Birmingham City 1 - 0 Rotherham United
