Match Summary

2 We fancy:

Villa to win and both teams to score could be one of the best football betting tips for this game at 10/3 with bet365. The home fans will be right behind Dean Smith, although the new manager probably hasn’t had the time to sort out his leaky defence just yet.

One to Watch: Jonathan Kodjia

Kodjia is Aston Villa’s top scorer so far this season, with four goals to his name already. The Ivory Coast international only managed one goal last term in an injury-hit campaign, and his return to form and fitness could be crucial this time round.

Kodjia scored 19 goals in 36 appearance during the 2016/17 campaign, proving he has what it takes to produce the goods at this level. He is 21/5 with 888sport to open the scoring on Saturday.

Aston Villa vs Swansea Betting Tips, Preview & Predictions

Aston Villa take on Swansea at Villa Park on Saturday afternoon

Aston Villa’s new managerial duo of Dean Smith and John Terry take the reigns for the first time in this Championship preview, with Swansea City the visitors to Villa Park. The hosts start this game 15th in the table, although they’re only four points off the play-off places.

Villa are 21/20 in your Championship predictions, so they’re the favourites to get back to winning ways following Steve Bruce’s departure. The Villans have only managed one victory in their last 11 matches, and are without a win in their last four league fixtures. There’s plenty of optimism at Villa after they snatched new boss Smith from promotion rivals Brentford, and a win would put them right back in the mix.

Swansea are 7/2 for the victory, and they start this game two points ahead of their hosts on Saturday. The Swans have been inconsistent after their relegation from the top fight, with just one win in their last six games. Graham Potter’s side have won away at Millwall and Sheffield United so far this season though, with the latter result proving they have what it takes to pick up important victories on the road.

The draw is 5/2, and it could be a decent football prediction here considering the recent history in this fixture and the new wave of optimism at Villa Park. Swansea have won each of the last five meetings between the teams – all in the Premier League – but this old ground will be bouncing and the home fans will be hopeful of a result to honour their former chairman Doug Ellis, who died last week.

Tammy Abraham is the 7/2 favourite for the first goal. The on-loan forward has scored in his last two matches for Villa, including the opener at Millwall last time out. Oliver McBurnie has four goals so far this term for Swansea, and he could be good value at 7/1 to break the deadlock on Saturday.

Predicted Score: Aston Villa 2 - 1 Swansea
