Match Summary

1 Look out for:

An easy home win. Preston have been awful so far this season, losing all five of their away games and failing to score in four of those. Villa are 2/1 with bet365 to win this game to nil, which should be one of the best football betting tips for this game.

2 We fancy:

Even though they’ve been inconsistent so far this season, Villa possess plenty of quality throughout their squad. Preston have already conceded 21 goals this term, three more than any other side. The Villans are 14/1 with BetBright to win this game 3-0.

3 It's a long shot, but…

Although Villa beat Preston at Deepdale last season, the Lilywhites have managed to get a point at Villa Park on their last two trips to the Midlands. Both of those games finished as score draws, and a 1-1 here is priced at 6/1 with 10Bet in your football score predictions.

One to Watch: Yannick Bolasie

This season is a great chance for Yannick Bolasie to get plenty of minutes under his belt and show what he can do after the serious knee injury he suffered soon after signing for Everton. The talented forward has exceptional ability on the ball and should be tearing teams apart in the Championship.

The Congo international is trying to force his way into Steve Bruce’s starting line-up, having made four substitute appearances so far. He’s 8/1 with bet365 to open the scoring here, but if he doesn’t get a start, Bolasie is the same price to notch the last goal of the game, like he did in Villa’s recent home win against Rotherham.

Aston Villa vs Preston North End Betting Tips, Preview & Predictions

Jonathan Kodija comes into this Championship game between Aston Villa and Preston looking for goals

It may be early in the season to say this is a must-win game for Steve Bruce, but it certainly feels like it for the Aston Villa boss. His side play host to Preston in this Championship preview, and nothing but a win will do for the Villans.

Villa are 20/23 to get their first win in three, so they’re the favourites in your football predictions. The Villans’ draw at Bristol City on Friday night leaves them down in 15th place after 10 games, although they’re only two points off the play-off places. Bruce’s side lost their last home game against Sheffield Wednesday, but they should have more than enough to win this one.

Preston are 15/4, and they start your football betting tips for the weekend rooted to the bottom of the Championship table. The Lilywhites haven’t won a game since they beat QPR 1-0 at home in their first outing of the season, losing seven of their nine fixtures since. Alex Neil’s side came close to a play-off place last term, but this season is quickly shaping up to be a relegation dogfight.

The draw is 11/4, and that particular football prediction would suit the visitors much more than the home team. Preston are desperate for points and avoiding defeat against one of the teams most fancied for promotion would be a positive result. For Villa, failing to beat the bottom club on their own turf would heap further pressure on their manager.

Despite being an injury concern heading into Tuesday’s game, Tammy Abraham is the 5/1 favourite to open the scoring. If the young striker doesn’t make it, Jonathan Kodija and Scott Hogan would look most likely for the first goal, both priced at 11/2. For the visitors, Josh Harrop could be worth a look at 16/1 in the same market.

Predicted Score: Aston Villa 3 - 0 Preston North End
