In a sentence: Aberdeen look to regain second place in the SPFL ahead of Rangers with a win, but Hamilton need a victory to move further away from any relegation worries.

Last time: The two played out a 2-2 in front of just over 3,000 people in the middle of a poor run for Aberdeen.

This time: Aberdeen are 4/9 to win, a draw is at 10/3 and a Hamilton win is priced at 13/2.

You might remember: Hamilton took the lead and equalised in this fixture earlier on in the season, but goals from Greg Stewart and Karl Arnason for Aberdeen meant neither side went home with all three points.

Betting Tips & Predictions

A view from the stands of Pittodrie, Aberdeen’s home ground

As both teams look inconsistent going into this game, a draw certainly doesn’t look on the cards. A 1-1 is priced at 15/2, but with only two draws between these two in the past six weeks, it might not be too likely. That being said, Aberdeen’s midweek exploits against Ross County stand them in good stead to really put Hamilton to the sword if they want to continue their ruthless streak.

Aberdeen need to make this game count to keep pressure on Rangers for second spot, but a comprehensive 4-0 win is at 16/1, and given that they put four past Ross County, it wouldn’t be a major shock if they did it again. Adam Rooney is priced at 18/1 to go one further than he did in midweek and grab a hat-trick.

As for Hamilton, they’ve won twice in the past six games, scoring six goals in those two victories, with a 3-1 win for the Accies at 66/1. As for goalscorers, Gary Mackay-Steven is 6/1 to score first for Aberdeen whilst Mikael Miller is 8/1 to open the scoring for the visitors on his debut.

This game has become hugely important to Hamilton given what transpired in the Tuesday and Wednesday games, and they know that a win would get them away from the drop zone. A defensive-minded 1-0 away victory is 16/1, which would seem like the likeliest of wins if they do get all three points.

That being said, it doesn’t look like Aberdeen are stopping the goals any time soon, so a 3-0 or 4-0 victory could be on the cards, priced at 9/1 and 18/1 respectively.

Match Summary

Look out for:

A 3-1 home win with Adam Rooney to score first, which is priced at 50/1. Also, Rooney to score first and a Hamilton 2-1 win is 150/1. It’s unlikely that Hamilton will win, but there’s the chance of a comeback if they put on a spirited display.

We fancy:

A nice and easy 2-0 home win to close the gap further on Celtic following the midweek action. This is available at 6/1, but don’t be shy to put something on a 3-0 with Kenny McLean to score at any time, which is priced at 22/1.

It’s a long shot, but:

Hamilton to win 3-0 is at 80/1 and whilst it isn’t very likely to happen, you just never know with the Scottish Premiership. Strange results happen every now and again, and this would certainly be one of those.
