Vernons Review & Rating 2021

Is Vernons Legit?

Over the last decade Vernons has built its online sports betting and casino operation. Licensed by Alderney Gambling Control Commission they offer their services predominantly to the UK market, but also further afield.

Vernons today offers customers sports betting, casino and bingo. It has been a successful reinvention and far from being typecast as the old pools company that offered the main source of football gambling well into the 1990s, they have morphed into a successful modern day online sportsbook, while retaining the cache that longevity gives an organisation.

Vernons Bonuses and Offers

Vernons provide the usual ACCA Insurance where if one part of a six to ten-fold multiple loses the customer gets their money back up to a maximum of £50.

There are bespoke promotions too, with one, at the time of this review, offering money back as a free bet if a Premier League Darts match ended in a draw. A similar offer was available on the tennis and there was even a money back deal available on virtual sports.

A matched deposit sign-up offer was available, up to £25, for new casino customers, but there wasn’t one available for new Sportsbook customers, which might put new trade off. As previously described however, there is a loyalty scheme for customers playing the online games.

Vernons User Interface

The website is well designed, although nothing innovative. The blue background, red shading and the use of frames makes it nothing extraordinary, but it works well and gets a customer where they want to be quickly and efficiently.

The design makes everything easy to read and the homepage makes the initial choice between the casino and sportsbook operation obvious.

One small gripe was the choice of photographs. At the time of the review England had enjoyed a fairly successful World Cup 2018 without the service of Wayne Rooney, but the former star striker in his England kit was the choice of image to take you into the sport area. He was displayed alongside Andy Murray, who had just missed Wimbledon. But hey, if they are the only gripes it’s not too bad.

All text is clear and the markets stand out. There’s little worse than not being able to read the odds on a page because the fonts and colour scheme are all wrong. That is not the case on the Vernons site.

That said, when a customer opens the Sports section of the site they are hit by a lot of information. It takes a while to sit back and soak it all in as every available betting market and resource is somewhere on that page.

Down the left hand side of the sports area they list Quick Links to their most played and lucrative markets, then Football Quick Links with leading tournaments displayed, and then beneath that the full list of sports on offer.

In the middle section of the sports page the major live markets are given priority, a rolling carousel of gaming offers is next and then the upcoming matches are well laid out beneath.

On the right-hand-side we then see promotions, Most Popular Bets, links to casino activity and then a fuller list in in-play markets. There are also social media options but a quick check suggests these may need looking into, with no posts since January.

It’s not a simple site. It’s not very different to many other sites. It is basically everything Vernons offer sportswise, presented on one screen and it works. You may need time to acclimatise, but it’s all there and presented well.

Vernons Mobile App

The site is exceptionally mobile friendly and even those using a computer can flick between the desktop and mobile versions of the site.

There is not currently a mobile app available from Vernons, but it could be argued that the quality of the mobile version counters against the need for one. Simply open the mobile friendly site on your phone, save it and you effectively have a Vernons mobile app in all but name.

Vernons provide a very good sports betting website and have the kudos in the industry to warrant your trust. The site provides markets on pretty much any sporting event you’d want to bet on and the in-play element of the site is very impressive indeed.

  • Great overall sports betting site
  • Vast markets and good prices
  • Missing out on broadcasting and editorials

Vernons Customer Satisfaction

A comprehensive customer service section can be found on the website offering the customer the option of contacting the company by email, telephone or via a live chat service. The phone and live chat option are available 24/7.

Although a reasonably new player in the online gaming world, Vernons bring their long heritage into play here and know how to treat customers well.

Vernons Sports Sports Betting

Vernons Betting Markets

A wide-ranging list of available sports is listed on the left-hand side of the sports page. Vernons give their big hitters priority at the top of the console where horse racing, football, golf and tennis are shown along with a quick link to the in-play markets.

Vernons are synonymous with football so it’s no surprise they list the major football leagues next to allow punters a quick dive into their chosen league.

But then a quick scroll down and the full list of sports available to bet on are displayed. In full they offer markets on – Football, Horse Racing, Tennis, American Football, Baseball, Basketball, Boxing, Cricket, Darts Golf, Handball, Beach Volleyball, Ice Hockey, Motor Sport, Badminton, Rugby League, Rugby Union, Snooker, Volleyball, Australian Rules Football, MMA, Entertainment, Politics, Gaelic Games, Cycling and Table Tennis.

And yes, they are presented in that order, which makes little sense. But still, there is a lot there to go at.

In each sport the outright markets are fully stocked and markets exist for most competitions and leagues around the world. Ante-post options also exist on upcoming matches. It’s all there and the number of markets available within matches will not disappoint either.

The matches listed are shown slightly differently as by clicking on a team name, rather than the price, you enter that bet into your slip. That might take some getting used to, but it’s not better or worse, just different.

And that is the main point here. The Vernons site looks like most others, is as well stocked as any you will find, it just takes a little bit of time to acclimatise oneself to it. Once that assimilation has been done, off you go and it’s all there for you.

Vernons Content (Live Streaming, Audio Commentary, Radio, Blogs, and Previews)

There is a well-stocked statistics section providing league tables and other, primarily football, data that could aid the betting process. A results section is also on the website, but there is nothing else in terms of podcasts, blogs, punditry or radio.

There is no live streaming of any events on the site and you can’t help but feel that this is an area Vernons may look to next in their bid to branch out.

The same could be said of their social media options. Both their Facebook and Twitter sites, ‘BetVernons’, had not at the time of writing been updated for some time and provide an area where a traditional company like Vernons may look to show its evolution should they desire.

Vernons Bet In-Play

Vernon’s in-play activity is wide-ranging and their live markets are one of the major plusses of the site.

The In-Play activity on the site is prominently displayed and once in a live match screen the live pitch graphics and statistics mean all you are missing is the video of the game. The detail is impressive and the in-play service is not just available on football, but on most sports available on the Vernons console.

The in-play area of the site is one of the most impressive offerings Vernons provide, but it is tarnished by a lack of a cash out option on in-play bets, something offered now routinely by the big players.

Vernons Stats & Form

Excellent statistics are available in-play and a statistics section on the website provides further background information for anyone wishing to frame a bet. In the horse racing section, there is a summary of the form ahead of every race which is a nice touch for those eyeing a flutter but who maybe lack prior knowledge of the competitors.

A results service is available on the website.

Vernons Sports Casino

Vernons Sportsbook Overall

Vernons provides a very good service to the sports better. The website is fully stocked, well laid out, if nothing earth shattering, and the ease of navigations and excellent in-play areas of the site are a major plus.

Vernons may not have been around as a sports betting business for that long, but they have been a successful company in the industry since 1925. That history shows in their customer friendly approach and what they do, they do well.

It’s all there for the punter and there would be few complaints. Improvements can be made however, and if Vernons want to be considered one of the big players in the market then a few more bells and whistles could be added to the service, while a more vibrant social media presence could help.

Vernons are the addition of a cash out option, maybe an enticing new customer bonus and a bit of punditry and live action around the edges away from having an excellent sports betting offering.
