Editor’s note: We’re no longer recommending Tonybet, but we’ve still got some cracking bookmakers to share with you!
Despite being relatively new to the online betting market, TonyBet has become one of the fastest growing online sportsbooks and gaming companies in the world. It was originally named Onibet, an online gaming company that was founded in 2003 before being rebranded in 2009 by the famous poker player and businessman, Antanas Guoga, better known as Tony G.
One of the major plus points in signing up with TonyBet is their highly competitive welcome offer.
In creating an account with the site and placing a minimum deposit of £10, you can claim a sports bonus that includes matched 100% bonus of up to £50. Since this bonus is a matched one, punters can deposit smaller amounts and as a result, will receive a smaller bonus. To receive the bonus funds, you will first need to wager your initial deposit 10 times on betting markets with odds of at least 1.65 or better. Once you receive, your bonus, you need only wager it once.
Casino players can opt to claim a welcome bonus better suited to their needs. This includes a 100% deposit match offer up to £300 + an extra 50 spins on the Dynamite Riches Megaways slot. You will need to place a minimum deposit of £10 or more and wager that amount 10 times. Once you have met this requirement, you will be given your matched bonus funds. The bonus money will need to be wagered 25 times within 30 days to clear the funds to your real cash balance, while the spins will need to be wagered 35 times within 3 days.
The TonyBet site is functional and pleasant on the eye, but does lack a wow factor.
In terms of design, all the key options are where you would expect, with feature sports and the latest in-play events dominating the centre of the page. As with most sportsbooks, users will find all the different types of sports markets available on the left-hand side of the page, whilst the options for casino, poker and gaming can be found at the top.
One slight drawback is the use of flash features, which TonyBet use to highlight promotions and the latest odds on major sporting events. The issue with this is that the flashes can cause the site to slow down from time to time, which isn’t great for those who bet in-play and require a smooth loading service.
On the other hand, a big plus for TonyBet is that their site runs with the latest SSL Web server certificates. This is good news for those who are security conscious when using betting sites, as it ensures that all the communications are absolutely safe as the sensitive information is always encrypted.
When it comes to deposits and withdrawals, the number of payment methods available with TonyBet is very impressive. All the popular electronic wallets and credit cards are accepted, as well as bank transfers.
Neteller and Skrill in particular work very well, as they take just a few hours for withdrawals and allow players to instantly deposit funds into their accounts. For those who prefer more conventional methods such as bank transfers, it takes a little longer for the money to reach them, but they are comparable to many in the sportsbook industry. In total, you can use 7 different payment options. These include Neteller, Skrill, PayPal, Paysafecard, Debit Card, PaySera, and EcoPayz.
One other thing to note with TonyBet is that they use a closed loop policy. This essentially means that players need to withdraw funds to the same primary source they used to deposit.
On the whole, TonyBet have a positive reputation in the betting industry, though some customers had raised issues about a lack of a live chat for customer services. This has been resolved with TonyBet now providing a wide range of options for customers.
To get hold of the customer service team, punters are offered the option of e-mail, phone and now a live messaging service on the site. TonyBet’s customer service team have been noted to be very responsive and knowledgeable through all those platforms, and are available 24/7 to help with any queries.
In addition to that, TonyBet have also ventured into social media to appeal to a wider audience. They are active on platforms such as Twitter, providing punters with the latest betting news and promotions, as well as providing customer support.
With gaming licenses in the UK and Estonia, TonyBet deliver their services throughout Europe. This allows them to offer users the opportunity to place live bets on lottery, casino, poker and other games as well as sports betting.
With fierce competition increasing between betting sites, TonyBet offer a strong range of sports to bet on.
In terms of their sportsbook, they have a decent list that includes live and pre-match betting, as well as money lines on some of the biggest entertainment and political events such as the Eurovision Song Contest.
Key sports including football, cricket, rugby and tennis are covered, while more niche events such as E-Sports also have a decent range of markets to bet on.
However, there are some big absentees from their sports list, especially horse racing, which most punters would consider to be one of the staple sports to bet on.
Bettors can expect average, industry-standard odds from TonyBet.
As with most online sportsbooks, TonyBet offer additional content to inform and entertain their clientele.
They provide a blog feature on their site which includes articles covering sports, casino, poker and general betting. TonyBet also have a YouTube channel that is linked to their site, showing highlights from professional poker tournaments which is something slightly different to what other sportsbooks offer.
In comparison to blogs and previews from other sites, TonyBet’s blog focuses more on entertaining users than actually providing clear betting tips and strategies on particular events. For instance, the types of topics covered include the top ten most interesting winning bets and the strangest betting superstitions.
If in-depth betting previews are your thing, there are better alternatives out there.
Another flaw with TonyBet’s content is the lack of live streaming for sport events, which is a negative for the in-play betting experience that they provide to punters. Bettors now expect to be able to watch live sporting events as part of their membership to a site, and it is a feature that is being taken up by more and more sportsbooks.
Without it, in-play punters will go elsewhere to find it and this is perhaps something TonyBet will need to look at in order to keep up with the competition.
Larger sportsbooks such as William Hill or Coral may offer a greater depth and variety in their markets, but TonyBet still deliver a decent product for in-play betting.
All the markets that you would expect to see such as outrights, total points/goals and handicaps are all clearly displayed and easy to access. However, there isn’t much else to set it apart from anywhere else.
The whole in-play experience on offer is very much focused on functionality, and therefore it fails to create the buzz that other betting sites provide for this type of betting. When you look at the graphics deployed by TonyBet to show how an event is progressing, they look rather dull and vague, with just the scores and time on show.
There aren’t any live enhanced offers to keep customers involved, while the absence of live streaming is another drawback, as users want to be able to see what is happening so they can respond to the action. In comparison to other sportsbooks, TonyBet simply don’t offer the same level of markets and content that is now expected from in-play bettors.
There just isn’t enough to really grab your attention, both for pre-match events and in-play. The site works well enough, but it is purely functional. It lacks a wow factor, with limited content, no live streaming and markets which fail to offer the depth currently provided by others.
With that in mind, TonyBet have work to do if they are to mount a serious challenge to the likes of Betfair and Ladbrokes.
There is a lot to like about TonyBet, especially when it comes to their service covering casino, poker and gaming. After all, that was their main focus when they first started and it is something that they have been developing and improving ever since.
The range of games and relevant markets on offer is very impressive, with some really enticing promotions to enhance the overall experience. However, when it comes to their sportsbook, other betting sites are far superior.

Tonybet is great. I didn’t know anything about betting before I found this site and now I’m hooked! The bonuses are awesome and it’s the easiest registration process out there. I really appreciate the customer support as well, they always help me right away. Tonybet has a great selection of odds and sports, plus insane amount of games.
I have been a loyal customer of Tonybet for a couple of years now. I’m not a gambler myself but I do enjoy playing some slots and bet hockey. Also, I appreciate the easy registration process and the customer service they provide, in case there are any issues with my account.
