SugarHouse Review & Ratings 2024: Is SugarHouse Legit?

The first part of any review we undertake with a new operator is its available promotions. So that’s where we’ll start our SugarHouse review, using the US promotions as examples. However, these promotions are only accessible within the SugarHouse legal states, so you should ensure that you are residing within one of these states when trying to use these promotions.  And with that, the first thing you’ll notice is that there are 8 separate ‘promotions’ listed on this page. Yet a quick read through, and it seems like a few of these were just added to make the promotions page look more enticing.

The first five promotions listed on the US version of the page are all 20% profit boosts. True, these may be slight variations – basketball on Tuesdays and Thursdays; MLB on Wednesdays; NHL on Fridays; soccer on Saturdays; and a 20% profit boost on the Champions League semi-final. Why couldn’t the first four at least all have been listed under ‘Weekly 20% Profit Boosts’, with the finer details explained when you click ‘Read More’?

Other than the 20% weekly profit boosts, there are three other promotions listed. One is ‘iRush Rewards’, which is SugarHouse’s VIP program. We’ll discuss that in detail later.

There’s also ‘King Cash Community Chat!’, which looks quite interesting. Basically, there are periodic events on the site’s community chat, where you can hang with other players and win prizes. These events include trivia nights and ‘finish the song’ competitions.

And finally, we decided to save the best (by far) ‘til last – SugarHouse’s only out-and-out bonus offer. This is a 100% match on your first deposit up to $250. This is a very good offer, especially because the wagering requirements are 1x (they can sometimes be as high as 75x!) Be sure you enter bonus code 250MATCH when you make your first deposit. This may be different if you don’t live in the US, so be sure to check first.

Despite having too much information on the promotions page, what is on there when you finally get past all of the superfluous words and links are some decent promotions. 20% profit boost is useful to anyone – the more money the better. And the 100% match bonus is much better than the average bonus offer, especially in the US. Therefore we’re giving above average SugarHouse ratings at this stage in our SugarHouse review.

The next section of our SugarHouse review is the usability, look and feel of the desktop site.

The first thing you’ll see when you visit the SugarHouse desktop site is the home page. Scrolling down this page, the first thing that struck us was how cluttered the website feels already. Then looking over the ‘Promotions’ page, the ‘Rewards’ page and the ‘Get Started’ page, there is just so much information. All of it is relevant, useful even; yet not many casual bettors are going to enjoy reading so much information. This is more ideal for anyone out there new to betting, or wants to brush up on a particular part of it.

Then we come to the sportsbook section, and it is the complete opposite. It’s as we’ve come to expect from sportsbooks. There is a navigation bar across the top with all of the most sports markets, as well as some useful shortcuts like ‘Featured’, ‘Live’ and ‘Specials’. Below that you’ll find the betting markets and odds. To the left are all of the sports markets you can choose from, plus helpful links to your bet history and the sports bonuses. And to the right is the newsfeed, which shows consecutive sports wins and high casino winnings from other members.

The casino section is also very simple. The games are all listed right there. Above that there is a search bar, filters and a sort option. So we have reams of information on some pages, but it turns out the important sections of the site are easy to navigate. An unusual combination!

Overall we’d give the website average SugarHouse ratings when compared to other sites. The sportsbook and casino sections are pretty much the same as every other online betting site you’ll see; but we’d consider the other pages to be below average, due to the cluttered feel. However, SugarHouse is perfect for new bettors.

The ‘Pay with Cash’ option means you can make a cash deposit at many retail stores, including 7-Eleven. The maximum deposit for this method is $500 per day and $10,000 in a 30-day period. Minimum deposits are generally $10.

As for withdrawals, the website states that there are a variety of payment options available. The only ones explicitly stated on the site are the ones below, but we imagine Debit/Credit Cards and Paypal are also available.

SugarHouse doesn’t charge for online withdrawals, but some banks or card companies may add on their fees. With the SugarHouse Play+ Card, this allows you to withdraw cash at ATM machines (though there may be a fee). Withdrawal times depend on the payment method. The shortest is Paypal, which only takes a few hours; checks take the longest, at up to 14 days.

A final note: in terms of depositing and withdrawing cash at the casino cage, it depends which of the two states where SugarHouse operates you do your online betting in. If it’s New Jersey, you can do this at the Golden Nugget in Atlantic City; while if it’s Pennsylvania, head to the SugarHouse Casino in Philadelphia. But if you use the New Jersey version of the site, NJ state regulations mean you can’t deposit or withdraw at the SugarHouse Casino if you ever find yourself in Philly.

There are many unique payment methods available here, for in person deposits and withdrawals at least. So if you prefer doing it in person, perfect. When it comes to online payment methods, there are very few when compared to almost every other online betting site around. In the fourth part of our SugarHouse review, we will focus on the available customer support options, particularly the FAQ section and the contact options.

The first thing we suggest anyone should do when running into a problem – whether that’s with your account, bets, deposits and/or withdrawals, or anything else that you may be unsure or curious about when it comes to betting online – is to check through the site’s FAQ section. It is likely that you’ll be able to figure out any minor or common issues for yourself, meaning often there’s not much need to contact customer support.

And at SugarHouse, you’ll find one of the most extensive FAQ sections you’re like to see at an online betting site. All you have to do is click on the ‘Help Center’ page. There are as many as 137 questions under 12 headings. Now that’s impressive. In case you’re thinking that finding the exact frequently asked question you need would be like finding a needle in a haystack, then don’t worry – there’s a search bar to make things easy.

However, if you can’t find the answer to your query using the FAQ section, or if you simply prefer speaking to a staff member, then it’s time to contact customer support. You can do this via the live chat feature and the email address. There is also phone support, at (855) 752-9101, but this is only available in New Jersey, not Pennsylvania. The customer support staff are available between 9:30am and 2am, Eastern Time.

We consider these options to deserve average SugarHouse ratings. The majority of online betting sites have two or three support options, the prevailing few with video chat support as well. SugarHouse does have the most common three, though only in New Jersey. The main downfall is that the support options aren’t 24/7, but that is evened out by the extensive FAQ section.

Now it’s time in our SugarHouse review to answer the most important question of all when it comes to picking the perfect betting destination that you’ll trust with your money, as well as your time and effort – ‘is SugarHouse reliable?’

First of all, SugarHouse currently holds a gambling license in two states (as you’ve probably guessed by now). These are New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Therefore SugarHouse is independently licensed and regulated by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement and the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board.

Also, there are certain rules and restrictions according to US law that an operator must adhere to. A few of the most important ones are listed below, and we can confirm that SugarHouse follows each one to the letter.

• SugarHouse has to confirm that you are within state limits using geolocation tracking.
• You must verify your identity with SugarHouse before you’re allowed to make your first bet.
• As an operator must either have at least one existing physical location in the state or partner with one that does, SugarHouse has its own location in Pennsylvania and is partnered with Golden Nugget in New Jersey.

• In New Jersey, you can’t use SugarHouse to place a wager on college teams from New Jersey, even if the game takes place in another state. You’re also not allowed to bet on college events taking place in New Jersey.
• In Pennsylvania, it is legal to bet on college sports, whereas wagering on high school sports isn’t. It is also illegal to bet on esports.

As you can surely see, it is definite that SugarHouse is legal. Therefore we’re giving the highest possible SugarHouse ratings in this SugarHouse review tour. SugarHouse’s VIP program, called iRush Rewards, is the common points scheme. Essentially, frequent play gets you both loyalty points and rewards points simultaneously. The more loyalty points you get, the higher your loyalty level eventually becomes. There are 10 tiers to progress through, as well as an 11th ‘Elite’ tier that is invite-only. The higher the level, the more exclusive rewards you get. You can use your rewards points in the rewards store, where you can get free spins, scratch cards, bonuses and more.

Possible loyalty level rewards include access to SugarHouse’s bonus store, special offers, VIP birthday gifts, exclusive merchandise, a dedicated VIP manager, exclusive VIP events, expedited withdrawals, luxury VIP gifts, a VIP dinner, and many more.

Unfortunately this VIP program is significantly more complicated than any we’ve ever seen. For example, in terms of the rewards points, you receive 1 point per $5 wagered on a casino game with an RTP of 95%. But for an RTP of 94%, you get 1 point for every $4.17 wagered; and an RTP of 96% awards 1 point for each $6.25 wagered. Complicated, right? And that’s not even to mention sports bets, for which the points you get depend on bet combination and the monetary value of the wager.

And somehow loyalty points are even more complicated! I’ll just quote the website on this one: “A player retains the points earned from the current day to 30 days ago, though points earned from 31 to 60 days ago will be averaged and removed from a player’s current Loyalty Level status.” Wrap your head around that if you dare.

So even though this VIP program is enticing, it is way too complicated, and therefore doesn’t deserve better than below average SugarHouse ratings in our SugarHouse review.
