This is how ROLR works: The basics

So if you're already familiar with prediction markets, you definitely know it's all about buying and selling contracts on binary yes/no questions. Like I had explained in my DraftKings Predict review, the events you'll be predicting often cover real-world outcomes on things like sports, politics, culture, and even cryptocurrencies. So the idea at ROLR is basically the same, but there's one very notable difference, which is important you pay attention to.

At the moment, ROLR is undertaking a soft launch consisting of two main parts. I spent some time exploring the arrangement during my ROLR review, so here's what you should expect.

First phase: The free-to-trade prediction trading challenge for $25,000,000

For phase 1 of the soft launch, the platform is essentially running in free-play mode. What this implies is that you can't process real-money deposits or purchase event contracts using USD. Instead, you'll have access to free credits, which are basically a substitute currency that will be valid for the 8 weeks this phase will run. All the credits you'll need will be made available for free without the need for an ROLR promo code or any other requirements.

After the 8 weeks set aside for demo contract trading using free credits, ROLR's soft launch phase will be concluded. From my extensive checks, the proposed date for this is August 12, 2026. By this time, the $25,000,000 prediction trading challenge would also be over, and winners will be announced. My expectation is that after all this is done, ROLR will then switch to a proper real-money platform.

You'll now be able to process deposits and withdrawals in USD using any of the supported banking options. But more importantly, you will be able to purchase event contracts on the wide range of markets featured in the platform in the hopes of making a profit. So with this in mind, it’s good I break down how contract trading works on the ROLR prediction market app.

Quick example to explain ROLR prediction markets

I stated earlier that what you'll be doing on this platform is to buy and sell binary event contracts. To better illustrate how it works, I'll be using an actual live event I came across on the website. The 2026 FIFA World Cup is currently ongoing, and one of the most popular markets traders are making predictions on is the “World Cup Winner”.

So let's say, for instance, I purchased the “yes” share on France winning the World Cup at $0.35. If it turns out that they actually win, my profit will be $0.65 ($1 - $0.35). If the team doesn't win, I get nothing. It's important to note that you can buy as many contract shares as you want on various events. So for France's “yes” prediction, 100 contacts would cost me $35 total, and my profit if it's correct will be $65.

However, contract prices are constantly fluctuating based on how traders are reacting to updates and trends. For instance, star players might develop injuries, or there could be changes in formation that affect a team's prospects. All of this will impact how much it will cost to purchase contracts, which in turn creates more opportunities to trade.

Although ROLR is still running the free-to-trade phase, I have a pretty good idea of the range of markets it will feature when fully launched. And this was after extensive checks that revealed at least six categories, which is comparable to what I found during my Coinbase review process. Here are the main ones below:

The legitimacy of ROLR: Is the platform safe?

ROLR is operated by ROLR US LLC, a Delaware-based company, which first shows that the platform is indeed legit. Despite only offering free-to-trade services, I was able to pull information verifying that it will operate legally under the federal oversight of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). However, event contracts will be offered in partnership with Crypto.com Derivatives North America (CDNA) only to users who are at least 18 years old.

I also discovered that there are some US states currently restricted from accessing the platform. So if you live in any of these places, you won't be able to participate in any contract trading or even be able to register. As far as security goes, I was impressed with the site's use of an SSL encryption framework to safeguard users. A two-factor authentication (2FA) feature can also be activated, which means you won't need to rely on just a password to protect your account. KYC verifications are standard on most prediction market sites, so expect to undergo one. However, I noticed it won't be immediate, but finalists from the ongoing prediction challenge will be mandated to complete it.

ROLR website usability: Is there a mobile app?

Right off the bat, ROLR does not yet offer a downloadable mobile application for Android or iOS devices. At first, I found this unusual since many competitors put theirs in the spotlight, but I figured this could be because ROLR is still in its soft launch phase. That said, it's not all negative because the website on PC and mobile is pretty decent.

I particularly liked the clean, modern, and minimalistic UI, plus how you can switch between light and dark modes. The site's default white background, purple highlights, and deep black fonts make reading comfortable, although you may need to brighten your screen under sunlight. In terms of navigation, ROLR has done a professional job of ensuring that traders can find their way around easily.

All the major market categories are listed horizontally at the top. Below this, there's a filter button that lets you choose between events that are trending, new, ending soon, and those with the highest volume. The site's loading speed is also very impressive, and given the light-weighted design, you'll still be able to access most features when there's poor reception.

Available promotions for ROLR traders

Sadly, ROLR does not currently offer any welcome bonuses to users who sign up on the website. The promotion that's available currently is the free-to-trade competition that will run for 8 weeks. And to participate, you'll get 1,000 free credits after registration, which can be used to trade event contracts. I've said a bit about this promotion earlier, so I'll just go straight into explaining it better this time.

• Leaderboards – Upon receiving your 1,000 free credits, you can use them to make yes/no predictions and accumulate as many points as you can. Points are received on every market that settles, and the scores are compiled on four different leaderboards (daily, weekly, monthly, and season-long). If you top a leaderboard at the end of each period, you'll win a reward. Each week, the top three best-performing traders will then qualify for the final to compete for the grand prize.
• AMOE – Although three winners are picked weekly to compete in the final, there are actually 25 spots available. For the one extra spot, an additional winner will be drawn at random. To be considered for this special spot, you'll need to mail an entry card to ROLR in typical Alternative Method of Entry (AMOE) fashion. The mailing address as listed on the website is 542 Hopmeadow St., Simsbury, CT 06070. Other important rules on how the letter should be written, what should be included, and the size of the paper are all provided on the “AMOE” page on the website.
• Finals – Once the 24 seats for the finals have been filled, participants must predict the answers to seven Grand Prize questions. This all takes place between August 3 and 12. If you're able to guess all seven questions correctly, you'll win the $25,000,000 grand prize.

Other ROLR bonuses to look out for

Besides the 8-week-long prediction challenge rewards, several additional offers that release free credits are also available. Here's what I found and how they work:

• Weekly credits – Depending on how active you are at trading contracts, you might be eligible for extra weekly free credits at ROLR. Only the top four traders each week are considered for this, and there are four prize levels. They are Rising Predictor (25 credits), Strong Predictor (250 credits), Sharp Predictor (2,500 credits), and Elite Predictor (5,000 credits).
• Referral bonus – During the soft launch promotional periods, you're allowed to invite friends to register on ROLR and participate in the challenge. For each qualified referral, you can get up to 200 credits, alongside special milestone bonuses each week and every month. It took me about 2 minutes total to open my account and get involved in the prediction challenge at ROLR. No promo code is needed to complete the process, so follow my step-by-step guide below to see how it's done:

1. Click any of the on-page banners here, and you'll be redirected to the official ROLR platform.
2. Tap the purple “Sign Up” button and choose whether to register using your email or via your Google account.
3. If you opted for the email sign-up option, enter your email address and confirm that you're 18 years and above.
4. Next up, create a secure password and username as identifiers for your account, then tap “Continue”.
5. Follow this up by entering the 6-digit verification code that was sent to your email inbox.
6. Once your account is verified, you'll be logged in automatically and sent 1,000 ROLR credits to start trading with.

What banking options are supported at ROLR?

For now, ROLR doesn't list any payment methods since no deposits or withdrawals are allowed during the free-to-trade promotional phase. At the end of this period, you'll then be able to carry out regular transactions. I was unable to get information on the specific payment systems that will be supported in the future, but there's a clue.

After reading the platform's terms under the “Legal” menu, I found that cash prizes from the ongoing contest will still need to be sent out to winners. The banking methods they plan to use for this are ACH or wire transfer. Given that these two options have been listed, then it's obvious they'll be part of the list. Other popular payment types I expect to be featured are debit/credit cards, e-wallets, and possibly cryptocurrencies.

Customer service availability for ROLR traders

Unfortunately, there's not much happening currently in the area of customer service at ROLR. Again, my first thought is that the reason for this is because the platform is undergoing a phased launch. So for now, you shouldn't expect to see a live chat option. However, I noticed that you can still send a message to the site's official email address at support@rolr.com, and you'll get a response within 24 hours.

An FAQ section has also been provided, in case you feel like finding answers to popular questions. The link to the page is located on the footer of the website as “FAQ”, but honestly, most of the questions displayed have to do with the prediction trade challenge. Regardless, I liked how they've separated the questions into easily scannable categories. These include questions on account, contest rules, prizes, legal, technical, and finals.

My final thoughts on ROLR – Exciting new prediction market platform

I have to admit that ROLR is a pretty impressive platform, even at the stage it is currently at. Most of what I would normally consider negative, such as the absence of a mobile app and standard bonuses, are things I can overlook until August 12, when real-money contract trading might begin. For now, the coverage of prediction markets, site usability, and free-to-trade promotion are good reasons to try the platform out.
