Welcome to my comprehensive Robinhood prediction markets review. Here, I’ll review a brand that has expanded its portfolio beyond stock trading. It now lets users trade the outcomes of real-world events across sports, climate, commodities, crypto, entertainment, politics, and elections.

Unlike traditional sportsbooks, where you’ll find fixed probabilities, Robinhood employs an exchange model. Participants trade binary contracts (Yes or No) that settle at $0 or $1 depending on the event’s outcome. I’ll provide everything you need to know about how this brand’s prediction market works, what markets are available, and how to get started. Please, stick around to learn more.

  • The platform has a trading fee of $0.01 to $0.02 per contract.

An overview of Robinhood and its prediction markets

Robinhood is a familiar brand to many individuals in the US. It’s an app that made stock trading accessible to everyday Americans. Since its launch in 2013, the platform has expanded steadily, first into options, then into crypto, and into retirement accounts. Now, prediction markets are its newest product, and it’s worth exploring.

Robinhood prediction markets are an exchange-based system in which users trade binary contracts (Yes or No) on the outcomes of real-world events. Here, you’re predicting whether a specific event will or won’t occur and backing that belief by buying the corresponding contract.

Let me provide a few examples to give you an idea of Robinhood prediction markets:

  1. Is the Fed going to maintain interest rates at its next meeting in June 2026?
  2. Will Ariana Grande have the #1 song on Spotify USA in June 2026?
  3. Will Bitcoin get above $100,000 in 2026?

Each of these markets, as well as hundreds available on the platform, features a simple Yes/No contract.

Now, the way contracts are priced is very easy to understand. For the first question, the market currently reads that there’s a 91% chance of the Fed maintaining interest rates in the next June meeting. Thus, the current price of the Yes contract is $0.91, and the No contract is priced at $0.05.

When you decide to buy the Yes contract at the current price, and the event’s outcome aligns with your predictions, the contract settles at $1, and you receive a return. If it doesn’t, any purchased Yes contract will be worth $0.

One thing I like about this prediction market platform is that risk is always capped at your investment. Thus, you never lose more than what you put in.

The platform’s trading volume is worth noting. In Q4 2025 alone, Robinhood handled 8.5 billion event contracts. This attests to the growing mainstream interest in prediction markets and Robinhood’s unique ability to bring the product to an existing user base of tens of millions.

Here are quick facts about Robinhood prediction markets you should note.

Name of product Robinhood prediction markets
Available contracts Sports, climate, commodities, crypto, economics, elections, education, entertainment, and finance
Contract price $0.01 to $0.99
Trading fees Up to $0.02
Available states All US states except Maryland. Nevada residents cannot access sports event contracts

How event contracts work in Robinhood

Once you understand the basics of a prediction market, learning how the Robinhood event contracts work comes easily. Based on my review, the platform has done an incredible job of simplifying the experience.

Every contract on the platform is binary. That means, there are exactly two possible outcomes: Yes or No. Now, all you have to do is find a market question you have a view on, make a call on whether the outcome will occur, and purchase the corresponding position.

As a soccer fan, I decided to explore Robinhood sports markets and found this interesting question:

Will Inter Miami CF become the MLS champion?

$0.25 for Yes, $0.75 for No.

Based on this current price, traders collectively estimate that there’s a 25% chance that Inter Miami CF will be the MLS Cup champion. While underpriced, I believe the club will win due to their recent form. As such, I backed that belief by purchasing 200 Yes contracts at $0.25 each, for a total of $50.

Now, I have to wait for this outcome to play out on the set day. If Inter Miami CF becomes the champions, all 200 purchased contracts will settle at $1 each. And I’ll get $200 (a $150 return). But if they don’t, all Yes contracts settle at $0, and I’d lose my $50.

And as I mentioned earlier, the maximum loss I’ll incur on this event is exactly the amount I used to enter the trade. But there is another level of flexibility that’s worth exploring.

You don’t need to wait until the end of the event to realize a profit. Back to my example, if the contract price for “Inter Miami CF to become the MLS champions” goes up to $0.75 (from $0.25), I can sell them right away for a profit. That flexibility makes the trading experience worthwhile.

Is Robinhood prediction markets available in the US?

Short answer: Yes. This was the first question that came to mind while reviewing this prediction market platform, and I wasn’t surprised to find out that I wasn’t the only one curious to know. This platform is available because the CFTC regulates it.

CFTC is the same federal agency that oversees futures and derivatives markets in the United States. Event contracts fall into this category, which makes them legit to trade.

The platform also uses SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) encryption and standard consumer protection measures consistent with those for regulated financial products.

That said, there’s ongoing legal scrutiny in certain states, especially regarding Robinhood sports markets. For instance, Maryland residents cannot trade any available event contracts, and Nevada residents cannot access sports event contracts.

I should mention that the platform noted additional state-level restrictions beyond Nevada and Maryland. I’ll recommend that you log in to the prediction market app to know the available event contracts in your state.

Robinhood offers a handful of popular prediction markets that new and pro prediction users will enjoy. Let me share a few of them below.

Election

The Robinhood election markets are among the most active sections. I found contracts on presidential elections, congressional results, gubernatorial races, as well as key domestic and international policy issues.

One attractive trait of these markets is how quickly the contract prices move. As such, when new polling numbers come out, a major speech is delivered, or breaking news changes the national conversation, traders adjust their positions accordingly.

Entertainment

Robinhood also offers entertainment contracts that cover film awards, music categories, streaming milestones, and celebrity-related outcomes. Traders here don’t usually wait for inflation reports or policy statements.

Rather, they wait for fan momentum, industry buzz, critic predictions, and social media chatter. This lighter atmosphere is one reason this category is one of the easier ways to enter Robinhood's prediction market space.

Sports

The Robinhood sports markets cover game outcomes, season-long championship contracts, and individual award markets in the major American sports, with the NFL (National Football League), NBA (National Basketball Association), and MLB (Major League Baseball) as the primary markets.

Other sporting events with a strong following in the United States are also featured in their respective seasons. They include Soccer, Racing, Cricket, Chess, and esports. The mechanics are the same for all contract types in this section, whereby you buy a Yes/No contract on a given event.

Economics

This market covers Federal Reserve interest rate decisions, inflation readings, and employment reports. This category often attracts participants who are already tracking macroeconomic data or industry news and want a regulated platform that can help them make the most of that knowledge.

How to get started on Robinhood

The process of getting into prediction markets on Robinhood is much simpler than you may think. If you’re already a Robinhood user, the process gets even easier. You can find the prediction market product directly in your account. So, you don’t need to sign up for a different account or verify your identity in accordance with US prediction market laws.

Also, you don’t need to fund a new wallet. You can use the same one for stock trading to trade different event contracts right away.

But if you are new to the platform, follow these simple steps to get started:

  1. Click the banners on this page to visit Robinhood’s official homepage or to redirect you to the mobile store to download its mobile app (Android and iOS available).
  2. Once you’re on the homepage or app, take steps to sign up. Enter your name and email address, then create a password.
  3. Verify your identity by submitting your phone number and residential address.
  4. Once you’re done, go to the cashier section to deposit funds.
  5. After your deposits are processed, explore the Robinhood prediction market section. The platform arranged them by category, so browse the available markets, and choose any one you’d like to trade.
  6. You’ll find a question and the binary contracts attached to it, along with their implied probability and price.
  7. Before you confirm your contract purchase, the app displays a complete breakdown, including the current contract price, trading fee, and total costs. Read through it and confirm the order.
  8. From there, you can track positions in real time by selling early to secure some potential returns or cut your losses. Alternatively, you can hold your position until the contract resolves.

Understanding Robinhood’s fee structure

One of the most reassuring aspects of this platform is how straightforward the trading costs of each contract are. If you have read my Robinhood fees explained guide, you can tell how much I appreciate the platform’s transparency regarding its charges.

Based on my assessments, Robinhood charges $0.01 per contract. It’s worth noting that event contracts on this platform are offered through Robinhood Derivatives (KalshiEX, ForecastEX, or Rothera Exchange and Clearing). Thus, an exchange fee of $0.01 is added, bringing the total trading fee to about $0.02 per contract.

To put that into context, remember my 200 Yes contracts on Inter Miami CF to become MLS Champions? The total fees I paid were approximately $4 (200 x $0.02). If you’re not trading too many contracts, the charge can be quite low. But as a high-volume trader, the fees can add up quickly.

Another fee to keep in mind is a 1.75% fee for instant withdrawals. Other than that, you don’t have to pay any fee for account maintenance, inactivity, or standard withdrawals.

The Robinhood prediction markets platform experience

Robinhood’s entire brand identity is centered around making financial products feel intuitive and easy to use. That also extends to the prediction markets experience.

The app interface is simple and uniform with the rest of the Robinhood portfolios. Markets are segmented by category, contract prices are clearly marked, and the purchase process takes just a few taps. Users who have traded a stock or an asset on this platform will understand exactly how this feels.

Market depth is currently limited. Compared to other regulated prediction market platforms like Kalshi or Polymarket, you’ll find that Robinhood doesn’t list every contract available. It only features popular, high-profile ones. Casual traders will find Robinhood’s catalog more than sufficient to get them started and help them become familiar with how prediction markets work.

Sign up on Robinhood to explore its prediction markets

Based on my discussion so far, Robinhood is a safe place to trade CFTC-regulated event contracts in the US. Despite its perks, a few trade-offs are worth noting. First, the market selection is not as deep as dedicated prediction market platforms, and a few states have blocked access to some event contracts.

But this hasn’t stopped Robinhood from expanding, and it’s a prediction market app I can safely recommend. If you have enjoyed what you read so far, why not get started and place your first event contract right away? Click the banners on this page to do so.
