What is Moomoo and how does it work?

Moomoo is a prediction market platform that lets you trade event contracts based on real events. The outcome of these events determines if your trade is successful or not, but there is a bit more to it.

On sites like Moomoo, you first need to identify an event to trade. This event can be a sport, culture, economy, crypto, tech, politics, or entertainment event. After picking an event, you can buy a Yes or No contract. These binary event contracts are usually posed in the form of questions, thus the Yes or No contracts. Purchasing the Yes contract means you expect the event to occur, while purchasing the No contract means you predict it won't. If there are no Yes or No contracts indicated, then you can choose between two choices.

For example, a crypto prediction market can look like this:

“How low will Bitcoin get in 2026”

• Below $55,000.00 (57%) - $0.57
• Below $50,000.00 (46%) - $0.46

Each contract is priced from $0.01 to $0.99, so they're very affordable. If the event occurs while you have the Yes contract, you receive a payout for correctly predicting it. However, if you were holding No contracts, you lose the money you used to purchase these contracts.

Implied probability on Moomoo

If you've gone through a ROLR review, you'll know that the implied probability isn't restricted to Moomoo. Implied probability in prediction markets indicates the likelihood that an event will occur based on traders’ overall sentiment. You get the implied probability from the price of the contract, and here is a quick example:

• A Yes contract priced at $0.60: This has a 60% implied probability (0.60 * 100)

The implied probability indicates the general sentiment of all traders in the market. If many traders feel that the event will occur, the implied probability will be higher. However, as more news on an event comes out, this probability can also drop.

Moomoo contract prices

Every binary event contract on Moomoo has a price, which is determined by trader sentiment, as I mentioned earlier. So, how do these prices affect your trades and payouts at Moomoo? The contract price you see when you open an event on Moomoo is the price at which you can purchase the contract. For instance, if you find a No contract at $0.30, it means you can pay this amount to purchase the contract.

After purchasing the contract, you can choose to hold the contract for as long as you want, and then do one of the following:

• Sell it early: If you're no longer confident in your prediction, you can sell the contract at its current price. This will result in a profit or loss depending on the contract's current and purchase prices, but you'll incur a fee.
• Wait till the event settles: In this case, you wait till the event happens, or the time limit for the event expires. At this point, your prediction can be correct or wrong. If your prediction is correct, the contract you hold will be worth $1. However, if you're wrong, it'll be worth $0.

Various promotions at Moomoo

Promotions are a highly effective tool for attracting new members and retaining existing users on prediction sites. However, most of the prediction sites I've visited have a limited selection of bonuses. While doing a comprehensive Moomoo review, I found three unique bonuses. Although this is still a limited selection, it's better than what you get on many other prediction market platforms. You'll find bonuses for new and existing members, and here's how they work:

Using the Moomoo platform gave me access to many features that I wish were available on other sites. Beyond the prediction trading features, Moomoo has a great Resources tab where you'll find plenty of useful information for both beginner and veteran traders.

The main website has various navigation tools that help you get around with ease. You'll find large navigation buttons to switch from one prediction market to the next, with bold background layers to help you distinguish between events on the site. From the visual design of each page, it's obvious that Moomoo considers users who have issues with colors and small icons.

Moomoo has several tools that make prediction markets trading much easier. You'll find AI-powered insights to summarise news articles, as well as an option to interact with other community members in the discussions section. These discussions are great for getting trading ideas, and you can also join rewards contests here.

Mobile trading at Moomoo

My Moomoo review wasn't limited to its desktop website. I also looked at its mobile trading service, and it was great. Moomoo has an excellent mobile website that you can visit with any mobile browser, and the load speed is incredible. You also get the same trading features and tools that you find on the Moomoo desktop website.

While the mobile website did meet my expectations, I was more interested in the Moomoo mobile apps. Fortunately, the operator has downloadable apps for iOS and Android devices, which shows intent to cater to the mobile trading community.

The mobile app interface is easy to navigate, and you'll appreciate it if you prefer to minimize the clutter on the screen at any time. You still get access to the bonuses, live chat, and other excellent features of Moomoo, so you're not losing anything by using the app.

• Crypto: The crypto market focuses on predicting the prices of various cryptocurrencies. The price of Bitcoin at 12 pm, or the price of ETH by December, are some examples.

Payments at Moomoo

To buy contracts on Moomoo, you must have sufficient funds in your account. Contracts cost less than $1, but many traders often buy several contracts. While trying to make a deposit during my Moomoo review, I had to complete an account verification. This is one of the security features in place at Moomoo, so it's not a big deal. To proceed, you'll need to complete a Know Your Customer (KYC) verification process.

After verifying your account, you'll have two options for making a deposit on Moomoo:

1. ACH transfers: This is an excellent option for small deposit amounts, and there is no transaction fee. There is a $5,000 monthly deposit limit, and transactions can take up to 5 business days.
2. Wire transfers: You can use a wire transfer to deposit a large amount at Moomoo. Deposits are usually completed the same day, but may be extended to the next day if it's too late.

Although I didn't have as many payment options as I got during my Coinbase review, the two options at Moomoo still get the job done without issues.

To make a deposit using any of the options available, you can follow these steps on Moomoo:

1. Sign in to your Moomoo account.
2. Go to the Accounts section and select the Deposit option.
3. Choose a deposit option, either ACH or WIRE.
4. If you pick ACH, enter the deposit amount.
5. Check the details and process the request.

For wire transfers, Moomoo will provide you with account details, and you can then use your bank app to make the transfer. There will be instructions on how to complete the deposit, so follow them.

Withdrawing funds from your Moomoo account

ACH transfers and Wire transfers support withdrawals at Moomoo, so you can use the same option you used for your deposit. When processing a withdrawal, you can only withdraw your settled cash. At Moomoo, settled cash refers to any cash fund that the Moomoo team has cleared for withdrawal. This follows the U.S. settlement cycle and applies to funds from deposits or from contract sales.

To withdraw funds showing in your Settled Cash wallet, follow these steps:

1. Go to the Accounts section and pick the Transfer option.
2. Select Withdraw, then choose Wire Transfer or ACH as your withdrawal option.
3. Pick an account to receive your funds.
4. Provide the amount you want to withdraw.
5. Follow the prompts to complete the process.

Withdrawals will take a few days to complete, so you'll need to be patient. If you know you'll need the funds before a specific date, it's a good idea to process the withdrawal early.

Customer support at Moomoo: Getting help when it matters

Moomoo has a great selection of support options, and I learned a lot from going through the Resources section during my Moomoo review. The Resources section is like an FAQ, but with much more detail. It gives you access to the Moomoo Tutorials, Blogs, Investment courses, Feed, and Discussions pages. Here you can find written how-to guides, tutorial videos, and more.

If you don't want to use the Resources option, you can contact a customer service representative at Moomoo. Moomoo offers live chat, phone support, and email support. The live chat is open 24/7 with instant responses, while phone support is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. EST. You can send an email to their support staff if you prefer, but responses can take up to 2 business days.

Regulations at Moomoo prediction markets

All reputable prediction markets in the US are regulated by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). I discussed this in my Sleeper Markets review, and Moomoo is also regulated by the same body. The CFTC regulation allows Moomoo to offer event contracts on its platform, so you're not breaking any laws by using the site.

Moomoo also has to follow several guidelines in its operations, and many of these are in place to protect you from losing your money in a suspicious manner. The CFTC also prevents insider trading on Moomoo, so you don't have to deal with individuals who have an advantage in a trade.

Conclusion: My verdict on Moomoo prediction markets

Without a doubt, Moomoo is one of the top prediction market platforms in the US. The site offers access to more than 10 prediction markets, which is more than what some operators offer, and you get to trade on a desktop website, mobile browser, or using a mobile app. Customer support on the site is also top-tier, with 24/7 live chat and phone support for instant responses.

Trading on Moomoo is straightforward for anyone, but you can also get pointers in the Resources section if you need help navigating the service. The transaction fees are low, and the instant buying power of ACH deposits means you don't have to miss out on trades due to delays in sending funds to your account.

Among the various prediction markets available, Moomoo is one of the operators offering multiple bonuses you can claim.
