After the Atlanta Braves dominated Game 1 the Houston Astros came right back to put on show in Game 2. Now after a day off the series shifts back to Atlanta for Game 3 where anything can happen with each team starting a rookie pitcher on the mound. Find out how to bet Game 3 of the World Series and make sure you find the best place to do it with our baseball odds comparison page. On the page linked above, or table below you can get odds for any game, and compare them across multiple sportsbooks to find the most favorable place to bet.
The last time the two rookies started on the mound was in 2006 when the Tigers’ Justin Verlander faced the Cardinals’ Anthony Reyes. This happens again tonight for just the eighth time ever as the Astros put their trust in Luis Garcia and the Braves do the same with Ian Anderson.
Anderson’s been the stronger of two during the postseason even if he hasn’t made it past the fifth inning in two of his three starts. Still, in his 12 postseason innings pitched, he’s struck out 12, only walked four, and limited teams to three runs on nine hits.
Garcia on the other hand has struggled at times during the postseason, but was completely in control during Game 6 of the ALCS vs. Boston. However, in his other two starts he allowed a combined 10 runs in the first two innings of each game. With this being the first World Series game in Atlanta since 1999, Truist Park will be rocking, and Garcia could get frazzled early again. Add to this no DH for the Astros, and the fact that Atlanta is undefeated during the playoffs and take Houston to win Game 3.
Game 1 combined for eight runs and Game 2 made it to nine. 8.5 sounds about right. One major difference for tonight is that pitchers will be hitting, so that almost always results in an automatic out and one less bat in the lineup for each team. Still we’ve seen each offense explode. Tonight could be the night where they both show up. Two rookie pitchers making their World Series debut, I could see nerves creep in and some early scoring happen. Take the over and expect both teams to duke it out and score runs tonight.
The 2020 MVP and face of the franchise has been hitting .293 in the postseason over 41 at bats. He has a flair for the dramatic and should thrive at home tonight. If any Brave has a chance to finish the night with two hits, it’s Freeman.
We’ve talked already about Astros’ rookie pitcher Garcia and his pension to give up early runs. I think this trend continues tonight. The Braves are hungry to put on a show for a home crowd, and Garcia could stumble in the first until he finds his groove.
