In the latest West Ham news, Pablo Zabaleta wants the Hammers to secure their Premier League status as soon as possible in order to avoid a nervy finish.
The east London outfit find themselves just three points outside the relegation zone after a difficult run of fixtures in April which saw them face Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea.
Last Sunday’s 4-1 home defeat to newly-crowned champions City, coupled with Southampton’s win over Bournemouth, leaves West Ham firmly in the fight for survival heading in to their final three matches.
The Hammers travel to Leicester City on Saturday before ending their season with back-to-back home games against Manchester United and Everton.
Zabaleta says the players must take a positive mind set in to their season-finale and feels one win could be enough to see them over the line in the race for survival.
“It’s still in our hands,” the Argentine told the club website. “We have to go for the three points in our next game, that’s it.
“Leicester lost against their last game against Palace, then we have Manchester United and Everton at home, so it’s in our hands.
“Yes, Sunday’s result wasn’t good, but we have to forget that game, be positive and move into the next game thinking we can get the three points.
“One more win, or four points, could be enough to be safe 100 percent. We cannot wait on Swansea, Southampton or Stoke to keep dropping points. We have to think about West Ham and getting three points.”
Leicester could prove to be the perfect opponents for West Ham in their search for a win, the Foxes having lost three of their last four outings.
Claude Puel’s men are also winless from their last five outings at home and the Hammers are 9/4 with BetVictor to come out on top.
