Two belts are on the line for UFC 275 as Glover Teixeira defends his light heavyweight title against Jiri Prochazka and Valentina Shevchenko makes a title defense against Taila Santos. Also on the card is a rematch between strawweights Zhang Weili and Joanna Jedrzejczyk. For the best UFC tips read below, as we’ll break down each matchup in this highly anticipated event that takes place this Saturday June 11th in Singapore.
The 42 year old Glover Teixeira will make his first defense and while he’s often been overlooked by some of the best bookmakers, it’d be unwise for you to do so. The last three fights where he was an underdog he won all three, and in this fight he once again is the dog at +170.
So how does a man who has won six straight fights, most recently against Jan Blachowicz continue to get picked against? Well that’s what happens when you face off against one of the hottest young commodities in the UFC who is riding a 12 win streak. Even if only two of those wins came in the UFC, Jiri Prochazka has shown elite level striking and venomous power that can KO put down the toughest opponents. In fact, the Czech Samurai’s last 10 fights have all been wins by KO/TKO.
Still, I like Glover at +170 over Jiri at -200. Teixeira has slowed, but his BJJ has only gotten more deadly with age. Take the moneyline or look for him to win by submission at +350.
Shevchenko is riding an eight win streak and hasn’t lost since 2017. Santos has won four straight and ranks as the #4 flyweight. It probably doesn’t matter. Shevchenko is the pound for pound champ in the women’s UFC and many see her as all but unbeatable. The best online betting sites have santos at +450 and the champ at -630.
Even if you wanted to bet on Shevchenko for the win, with odds like these there’s not much money to be made. Instead let’s look at some props. Of her last seven fights, three ended in decisions and four by KO. Santos has had five of her last six fights go to decision. For this reason I like Santos to stay on her feet, but Shechenko to win by decision at +100.
If you’re onboard for this, you can take the fight to go the distance at -120 as well. I know none of this makes for exciting commentary, but Valentina Shevchenko is just that good at her craft.
The first time these two met wasn’t just one of the best women’s UFC fights of all time, it was one the best UFC fights of all time. Both of these fighters come in after two losses and both will be hungry to get a new win streak started.
The first fight saw Zhang Weili win in a split decision and she remains the favorite here, although not by much with only -155 odds. You could make a little money by taking Jędrzejczyk at +135, but I like the better striker here and that’s Weili.
If you’re feeling ambitious, take her to win by KO/TKO at +350. If you’re a little more cautious you could go decision at +140.
