In the latest Tottenham Hotspur news, Harry Kane will undergo a scan on his right ankle as Spurs wait to find out the full extent of the injury to their star striker.
The England international picked up the injury against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Sunday and manager Mauricio Pochettino is now waiting to find out how long potentially the forward could be on the sidelines for.
Kane was seen leaving the ground wearing a protective boot and on crutches, which will have come as a big concern for Spurs, who are looking to finish in the Premier League’s top four this season.
Pochettino is upbeat about the prognosis but will be keeping his fingers crossed no ligament damage has been suffered by the 24-year-old.
He said: “I am concerned. Until tomorrow (Monday) and the scan we cannot say nothing more.
“Of course I worry about him, his ankle. We hope it is not a massive issue for him and the team. We hope as quickly as possible he can recover and be available.
“But he’s positive. He is always positive. He is happy with the victory of the team. If you’re positive you start the injury return from today.”
England boss Gareth Southgate will also be keeping a watchful eye on Kane’s fitness, with the Spurs star set to lead the line for his country at the World Cup in Russia this summer.
Spurs could have to begin life without their star man on Saturday when they make the trip to the Liberty Stadium to face Swansea City in the sixth round of the FA Cup.
Meanwhile Tottenham’s next chance to consolidate their top-four place in the Premier League comes on April 1 when they go toe-to-toe with rivals Chelsea in a mouth-watering battle at Stamford Bridge.
