The 2022 United States Grand Prix is finally back, and I’m looking forward to it for many reasons. Although I get excited about every GP, like many other fans, I love the Circuit of the Americas. The track is surely enjoyable to drive and I love its flowing nature. This year marks the 10th anniversary of F1 racing around COTA. After we saw Max Verstappen win his second consecutive title in Japan, is it possible that Red Bull can clinch their constructors title? Last time, we saw the return of Suzuka, a fan favorite track. Now it’s time to welcome another fan favorite to the sport as F1 head to Austin Texas for race number 19. Yes, there are only four races remaining in this thrilling season. The track is 5.5 kilometers long (3.4 miles) and has 20 corners. Race day should see the cars racing around the track for 56 laps. Two DRS zones will be available this weekend to assist overtaking. Even though racing is closer than ever before with the new generation cars, I expect plenty more overtakes. Charles Leclerc holds the lap record with a 1:36.169 in 2019, whilst last year the track records and previous results are held by the usual suspects. The lap record for last year was 1:38:485 by Lewis Hamilton, who came second to eventual winner Max Verstappen. Lewis has won six times here, and he would love to make it a seventh. It’s been long speculated that Austin would be the winning race for the German team. Although they haven’t won a race yet, I will stand by my assertions that they are in the running to win this race. My realistic thoughts will come into play shortly thereafter. Red Bull has been on a new level of performance and could win the constructors title this weekend for the first-time since 2012 when Sebestian vettel helped them win it. Red Bull’s boss Christian Horner, will be pushing his drivers to win and earn points in order to finally claim their fifth constructors championship. Leclerc’s and Ferrari’s performance can be surprising, but now that the Monegasque has no pressure to win the title, it’s possible we’ll see him just ‘letting loose’. Do you think he’ll get get on the podium or even get a win? Make sure you compare all the best F1 betting odds before you place any bets!
Mick Schumacher is another driver worth watching. He doesn’t yet have a seat for next season, so he must fight for every point if he wants to be offered another seat next year with Haas. Frenchman Pierre Gasly will join Esteban Ocon at Alpin next year, it was also announced. They have proven to be a formidable team this year, and Pat Fry, their chief technical officer, said that they are keen to continue making progress. Gasly may feel free from Red Bull’s clutches and be able to drive in a remarkable manner, making it harder for others on the grid.
