It’s finally here! We’re finally about to witness the much-anticipated and long-awaited Miami Grand Prix. In a few days time, the 5.41km circuit will make its debut with the 2022 F1 cars. It’s exciting and highly anticipated, as we now have a brand new track with new cars and revised regulations. There is virtually no data available to the teams about how the cars will react and how quickly the tyres will wear out, and the effects that they will have on drivers. The circuit’s heart is the Hard Rock stadium, which is located in Miami Gardens, home to the Miami Dolphins football team. The semi-permanent track loaded with 19 corners, heavy braking zones and sections that flow at high speeds will be a challenge for the drivers. The only challenge you should have however, is which sportsbook you should use for this weekend’s race. Fret not as we’ve compared the best sports betting sites so you don’t have to!
The Silver Arrows drivers may not be looking forward this race, with speeds of well over 300kmph expected on the long straights. This is due to the ongoing trouble they are having with porpoising. George Russell commented on how he started to feel back and chest pains while Lewis Hamilton, 7-time world champion, hasn’t mentioned anything yet. But, if a twenty four year old complains about back and chest discomforts, we can only imagine Lewis’s pain. After all the seven-time world champion is thirty-seven years old, but he is as fit as anyone. Toto Wolff, their team boss, has said that their car does not deserve to be driven by a World Champion. He would like to see the problems fixed as soon as possible.Would you like Toto to be your boss? I wouldn’t!
Ferrari, particularly Carlos Sainz, would like to achieve the best possible result after a very unlucky couple of race weekends. Carlos was not involved in the in the last two Grand Prix’s after having crashed out with Daniel Ricciardo’s McLaren. This forced him to retire from Imola after a terrible weekend which led him to retire in Adelaide. Drivers are known to take greater risks when they have a contract in place, as does Carlos, though he was unfortunate. If they are to win the constructors title, Carlos needs to gather up his momentum again and get upfront to help fight with Charles. Red Bull seems to have forgotten about their reliability concerns, or was it due to the cooler temperatures? Red Bull’s power units had some reliability problems in hotter conditions. With temperatures forecast to rise to the mid 90’s, it’s not surprising that they are a little nervous about this. Is Red Bull ready to respond to Charles’ request for a new engine for his Ferrari?
The competitiveness of the midfield has been a problem this year for Mercedes. All 10 teams have now scored points, after Sebastian Vettel and Lance Stroll placed in the top 10 with their Aston Martins at Imola. That leaves Mick Schumacher and Nicholas Latifi as the drivers who haven’t scored any points in 2022. Given the close competition between all the big boys this season, McLaren, Mercedes, Alpine and Alfa Romeo, and Haas, it is likely that anyone of them are in a position to be scoring points on any given weekend. Alpha Tauri and Williams, however, have also proven that they are more than capable of scoring points. I’m sure that fans and spectators are left wondering, in addition to other reliability issues the teams may be facing, how the top 10 cars will rank for Sunday’s race and qualifying.
