In the latest Spurs news, striker Harry Kane has admitted he wants to end his wait for a trophy next season after signing a new six-year deal with the club.
The England international has yet to win silverware during his short career, despite scoring 140 goals since 2009.
Kane has been linked with a move to Real Madrid in the last few months but he put those rumours to bed on Friday after signing a new deal with Tottenham.
His previous contract was set to expire in 2022 but he has now tied himself down until 2024, with the club’s new 62,000 seater stadium on the way.
Kane scored 41 goals in 48 appearances last season for Spurs in all competitions and he finished the 2017 calendar year as the top goalscorer in European football.
He also surpassed Alan Shearer’s record for most Premier League goals secured in a calendar year but he admits the club need to start winning trophies next season.
Mauricio Pochettino, who recently signed a five-year deal with Spurs, saw his team lose in the FA Cup semi-final to Manchester United but Kane insists they need to go one step further.
“The main thing is a trophy,” he said. “It’s been about four years now that I’ve been playing at this level and we’re yet to win a trophy.
“I wake up every morning and that’s what I want to achieve. For me personally, though, I just want to improve. Every year I want to get better, to score more goals and to get more assists.”
Manchester City remain the favourites for the Premier League title next season but Spurs can be backed at odds of 16/1 with bet365.
