In the latest Tottenham news, Jack Grealish has emerged as a serious transfer target after the Londoners tabled a £15million offer for the Aston Villa midfielder.
The 22-year-old looks like being in demand this summer with Villa expected to have to sell their best players after failing to secure promotion back up to the Premier League via the play-offs.
Spurs are interested in the playmaker and have tested the water with a reported £15million offer in the hope Villa’s perilous financial situation forces them into selling him on the cheap.
It is thought the Championship club value Grealish in the region of £30million and are unlikely to do business for half that amount, yet with Spurs waiting in the wings to try and land him for a cut-price fee the temptation for a quick sale could be too great.
Grealish, who has also been linked with Leicester and West Ham, has been a first-team regular for Villa since 2014 and has 110 appearances under his belt for his hometown club, scoring nine goals.
If Grealish does make the move to Spurs he will complement their midfield and add to Mauricio Pochettino’s options for 2018-19 although forcing one of Mousa Dembele, Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli out of the side on a regular basis will be a difficult task.
Meanwhile, Spurs are expected to request to the Premier League to play their first home game of next season at Wembley as their new 62,000 stadium may not be quite ready in time for August’s big kick-off.
Pochettino’s side used the national stadium last season after leaving the old White Hart Lane and largely enjoyed their time at Wembley, winning 13 of their 19 league games, while they also memorably beat Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid in the Champions League there.
