Seattle Seahawks host the New Orleans Saints for the Week 7 edition of Monday Night Football
This spread has moved quite a bit since opening at 3, then ballooning up to 5.5 before bouncing back and forth between 4 and 4.5. The Seahawks are rarely underdogs at home, but the reason for that is injuries. Russell Wilson will miss his second consecutive game after injuring his finger and being placed on IR. Starting running back Chris Carson is also missing due to a neck injury that put him on IR. Instead Seattle will have to rely on Geno Smith and Alex Collins, who is questionable, but expected to play.
On the other sideline, the Saints will have their starting QB and RB, but will be missing Swiss Army Knife/QB Taysom Hill and Wide Receiver Deonte Harris. As long as they have Jameis and Kamara though, it shouldnât matter. Jameis has done well in the New Orleans system throwing for 12 TDâs and only 3 ints thus far.
Many of the Online Sportsbooks found across our site have reported heavy money coming in for the Saints. A big reason for that is Geno Smith is not the QB to take advantage of the weapons the Seahawks have at WRâs and Alvin Kamara will dominate out of the backfield. Seattle has lost three straight home games both straight up and against the spread, and this is looking to be their fourth.
The Saints offense has been inconsistent this season. They opened the season up by torching the Packers with 38 points, only to follow it up and score seven against the Panthers. They score 28 points and 33 points to beat the Patriots and Washington, but in between only score 21 and lose to the Giants. What can we expect from them against the Seahawks?
Well, it seems easier to know what to expect from the Seahawks. If this team is forced to rely on Geno Smith, they likely will lose. However, Seattle rarely puts it all on the shoulders of their QB, even when itâs Wilson under center. Expect a heavy dose of Alex Collins as the Seahawks try to go on long drives and keep this game under control.
Without being pushed into a shootout the Saints offense will coast and the points will stay low.
Â
Collins had 20 touches last week vs. the Steelers for 100 yards and a TD. Expect tonight to see more of the same as the Seahawks try to keep the Saints off of the field.
For a deeper reach, take a look at Will Dissly (+500) who was targeted by Geno Smith last week in the redzone and found the endzone for the first time this season.
The Seahawks under Pete Carrol have always been known as a run-first team. Now with Geno Smith in Seattle will stick to this gameplan like they did last week. Collins will see over a dozen rush attempts and should have no problem eclipsing 47 yards.
