As the 2023 NFL season progresses, teams are beginning to assess their starting quarterbacks, running backs, and more. A Week 3 fantasy football rankings has recently been run 10,000 times by SportsLine to provide optimal insights for many fantasy football managers.
Patrick Mahomes from the Kansas City Chiefs currently ranks as the QB5 this season despite the Chiefs leading the NFL in drop percentage. Last year, they stood at 19th in drop percentage, which will only bolster Mahomes’ statistics.
The second top QB in the ranking is Lamar Jackson from the Baltimore Ravens. In Week 1, Baltimore refrained from calling any designed runs for Jackson, but this approach changed in Week 2. He carried the ball 12 times, outdoing every Ravens running back, amassing 54 rushing yards.
The third top QB is Josh Allen from the Buffalo Bills. Allen swiftly bounced back from a lackluster Week 1 with 274 passing yards and three passing touchdowns in Week 2. His outlook is even brighter for Week 3 Fantasy Football lineups against Washington. In his previous encounter with the Commanders, Allen recorded five total touchdowns and over 360 total yards.
SportsLine also provides a ranked top 3 of the best running backs for Week 3. So far, Los Angeles Chargers’ Austin Ekeler is at the top. His Sunday status against the Minnesota Vikings remains uncertain, but SportsLine recommends reinstating him in the Fantasy Football lineup if he plays.
Ekeler rushed 16 times for 117 yards with a touchdown and caught four passes for 47 yards before an ankle injury sidelined him. If active, anticipate a substantial workload against a Vikings defense that surrendered 259 rushing yards to the Eagles in Week 2.
Coming from the Dallas Cowboys’ Tony Pollard’s ranking is right behind Ekeler. Despite sharing the backfield with Ezekiel Elliott last season, Pollard achieved his first 1,000-yard rushing season and earned a Pro Bowl spot with 1,378 scrimmage yards and 12 touchdowns. Now the undisputed No. 1 in Dallas, he leads the league with 48 touches, 191 scrimmage yards and two touchdowns in the initial two games.
The third-ranked RB is Los Angeles Rams’ Kyren Williams. A significant surprise in this Fantasy Football season, Williams appeared to be surpassing fellow RB Cam Akers as the top back in Week 1. Akers was absent from the lineup in Week 2 amid trade rumors. Williams has rushed 29 times for 104 yards and three touchdowns while securing six receptions for 50 yards and an additional score.
