In the latest Newcastle news, striker Ayoze Perez has reaffirmed his commitment to the club amid talk that he could be on the move this summer.
The 24-year-old joined Newcastle in 2014 after catching the eye with some impressive displays for Tenerife in his homeland.
Perez was snapped up by the Magpies for a fee in the region of 3million euros and he went on to net seven times in 26 Premier League outings during his debut campaign.
His all-round performances were key to helping Newcastle get back into the Premier League for the 2017-18 season, and he once again proved his worth last term as he ended the term as their top scorer.
The hitman bagged eight goals and laid on four assists in 36 Premier League appearances to help them finish comfortably in 10th.
Reports this summer suggested that he was wanted back in Spain with the likes of Real Sociedad and Real Betis understood to be keen.
However, Perez has played down talk of an exit and insists he is fully committed to Newcastle, who are 9/4 to finish in the top half with bet365, as they look to improve further in 2018-19.
“I want to be at Newcastle going forward, 100 per cent,” Perez told Chronicle Live.
“I am living my dream of playing in the Premier League, playing for a massive team, and so it’s good to be here and I love playing for this club.
“Obviously it is good to have interest from those Spanish teams, because it makes you feel like you are doing something great, and shows I must be doing something right. But honestly I’m happy in England, I’m happy playing in the Premier League.
“My summer was great back at home, I really enjoyed it – but now it’s about being back at work and focusing on pre-season.
“We must make sure we are ready for the new season if we want to continue our success from last year.”
