NBA Draft Preview Betting Guide

Publish Date: May 20, 2022
Fact checked by: David Genge

The NBA Draft is only a month away (June 23rd), and each team denied or eliminated from the Playoffs is looking to upgrade their rosters to win the NBA Finals 2023. The Lottery chose Orlando, Oklahoma City, & Houston respectively, as the first three teams to pick in the draft. After a wild March Madness and NCAA Basketball season, lots of difference makers will be drafted. Before placing your bets on who will go to the Orlando Magic, first overall, find the best basketball betting sites to maximize your winnings.

NBA Draft: First Overall?

At the beginning of the season it looked like Paulo Banchero (now +325) or Ochai Agbaji (now +25000) could of gone first overall. However, the conversation has turned to scoring-sensation Jabari Smith Jr. out of Auburn (+100) or multi-tooled Zag, Chet Holmgren (+125). Last year it was Cade Cunningham first overall to the Pistons out of Oklahoma State.

Last year the Orlando Magic had the fifth pick overall and selected Jalen Suggs from Gonzaga, who shined early, but was plagued with injuries (fractured thumb and end of season ankle surgery). It would make sense to take Gonzaga-teammate, Holmgren, especially if they think he has generational diversity. However, their team does lack shooting depth, lead by Cole Anthony’s 16.3 ppg, which ranked 73rd in the league. Because of this, it would be wise to expect the Magic to go after Jabari Smith Jr. first overall.

Oklahoma City picks second (and three times throughout the first round alone), and would be happy to pick either Smith or Holmgren, whoever doesn’t go first overall. Of course they could go with Paolo Banchero out of Duke. He didn’t quite play up to his name this year, as Coach K’s final season landed in a bit of a disappointment. However, it is more important to flash elite talent than it is to play at elite talent the whole season.

After the top three players, the next tier seems to hold Purdue’s Jaden Ivey, Shaedon Sharpe (Canada), & shooting-phenom Keegan Murray out of Iowa. When putting money on the NBA, find all the best Tips for Online Basketball Betting made easy.

Rounding out the top ten players of the draft are: Johnny Davis (Wisconsin), AJ Griffin (Duke), Jalen Duren (Memphis), & Bennedict Methurin (Arizona).
