Hospitality and entertainment company MGM Resorts International has recently implemented a series of updated table game policies for its Las Vegas casinos. These updates pertain to its Gaming Streaming/Video/Photo policies, which are now in effect for its Nevada-based properties.
In an official company statement, MGM announced that these changes had been introduced to enable guests to capture videos, take photos, or even broadcast their casino experience. However, the company emphasized that the broadcasting privilege must not disrupt the gameplay, and individuals must obtain prior permission from the casino.
“The Gaming Streaming/Video/Photo Policy is launching for the Nevada properties in May 2023,” the company wrote in the statement.
“The new policy is aimed at allowing our guests to take photos and videos, and, when appropriate, to share that content in real or in near real-time via social media broadcasts (‘streams’ or ‘streaming’) while limiting the risks associated with allowing photography, filming, and streaming in MGM Resorts’ gaming establishments.”
MGM has ensured that the updated policies balance guest privacy and experiences for players. Casino guests must notify the management team of the specific venue before engaging in live streaming or video recording. Once approval is granted, they can actively participate in such activities.
Regarding table games, the new changes allow players to send texts, provided they do not disrupt the ongoing game. Brief phone conversations are permitted as long as the player is not actively participating in the current round. Guests are also allowed to capture photos of their hands solely for personal reasons.
Alongside the permissions, MGM has clearly outlined prohibited actions for table game players. Leaving any objects on the table for extended periods is strictly forbidden. Prolonged phone conversations and photographing gaming equipment are also against the updated rules.
Additionally, to respect the privacy of casino employees and fellow players, guests are prohibited from taking pictures of them. Playing music, audio recording, or engaging in any audio activities, except when necessary for streaming purposes, is also not allowed.
MGM asserted its authority to modify the rules and regulations. The company also acknowledged that certain exceptions and special considerations might be granted to VIP players and those who engage in high-stakes gambling in exclusive high-limit rooms or reserved tables.
