In the latest Manchester United news, Zlatan Ibrahimovic has backed Paul Pogba to start showing his best form for the club.
The Frenchman came through the United academy and after leaving on a free transfer in 2012, returned after four years with Juventus for a then world record fee of £100m.
A couple of inconsistent seasons have led to widespread criticism and Jose Mourinho even dropped him at one stage amidst questions over his attitude.
However, Pogba found his form to produce a string of magnificent displays in Russia as France claimed the World Cup.
Arguably his best performance came in Sunday’s final when he scored the third goal in a 4-2 win over Croatia. Inevitably questions have been asked as to why he has failed to produce similar showings for the Red Devils.
The 25-year-old is likely to miss the first few weeks of the Premier League season, with United opening the campaign against Leicester on August 10.
Jose Mourinho’s side are 13/2 to win the Premier League with bet365 and Pogba is sure to have a say on the outcome of their season.
No stranger to criticism himself, Ibrahimovic believes Pogba needs to relax more on the field, something he expects will become more natural after shining on the biggest stage of all.
Ibrahimovic said: “I played with him for two years and people like to give their opinion, which they have the right to do. They judge but I think the result speaks for itself.
“You don’t need to answer by your mouth, you can answer by your feet, and do what you are good at. That is the way it is supposed to be and the way I like to do it.
“Just enjoy the games and I know he will become better.”
