In the latest Manchester United news, midfielder Ander Herrera claims boss Jose Mourinho is happy with his squad despite his apparent frustrations in the transfer market.
Mourinho has cut a sultry figure at times during pre-season and repeatedly spoken about his desire to add to his squad before the close of the transfer window, although he also doubts whether he will get the players he wants.
United have added three to their squad during the summer to date, with Diogo Dalot, Fred and Lee Grant arriving at Old Trafford, but reports suggest Mourinho wants to sign another centre-back and a right winger before the start of the season.
Despite the Portuguese tactician’s desire to bring in new recruits, Herrera believes his manager is actually happy with the squad, although he admits he does not know what conversations go on in the boardroom.
“I can speak about what I feel in the dressing room,” Herrera told Sky Sports. “The manager, with us, is very optimistic and very happy with the team he has. He is very happy with us because we are making great effort in this pre-season.
“This is all I can say. The conversations he has with the club are not my business.”
United finished second in the Premier League last season but ended the campaign a full 19 points behind champions Manchester City and they are priced at 7/1 with bet365 to claim the title this season and Herrera is convinced they can mount a serious challenge.
“We were second last season and we got an amount of points where, normally, we should be fighting for the title,” the Spaniard added. “I think we have very good players and can fight for every title.”
The Red Devils will kick-off the new Premier League season when they take on Leicester at Old Trafford on August 10.
