In the latest Manchester City news, record signing Riyad Mahrez has confirmed he moved to the Etihad Stadium to win major trophies on a regular basis.
The Algeria international came close to joining the Citizens from Leicester during the January transfer window, but he finally completed his long-protracted move earlier this month when he joined for a reported £60million.
Mahrez has experience of winning trophies from his time with Leicester, as he helped them to the Championship title in 2014, before he played a pivotal role in their surprise Premier League success two years later.
The 27-year-old is now hoping to add to his trophy haul over the coming years and he believes City are the right club to help him achieve his objectives.
“I’m an ambitious player, I want to win trophies every season,” Mahrez told reporters. “I think Manchester City is a club who try and have ambition to win every season.
Mahrez also confirmed the lure of working with City boss Pep Guardiola was another major factor behind his decision to join the reigning Premier League champions.
“It’s a big club, the football they play is amazing, with a big manager. That’s why I’m here,” he added.
“He’s (Guardiola) very ambitious. He wants to win everything. He works very hard in training on small details. I will improve under him and he will improve the squad.”
City will begin their Premier League title defence when they travel to the Emirates Stadium to take on Arsenal on August 12 and they are priced at 1/1 with Sport Nation to secure a victory against what could be a title rival this season.
