In the latest Manchester City news, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis feels Jorginho’s proposed move to the Etihad Stadium will soon be completed.
Jorginho has been with the Naples outfit since 2014, making 160 appearances in all competitions and scoring six goals.
The Brazilian-born Italy international is not known for his prowess in front of goal but is a player who breaks up opposition attacks and does the hard work in the centre of the pitch.
The 26-year-old has been the man that City chief Pep Guardiola has been targeting this summer but it was thought that the Partenopei would do everything possible to prevent their star man from leaving.
However, De Laurentiis insists that dialogue over the proposed move is well under way.
“I think the deal can be done in the next few days,” he told The Sun. “Everything is possible as we have a good relationship with Manchester City and their people but we must negotiate.”
There are still some details to thrash out but De Laurentiis sees no reason why talks should not conclude sooner rather than later.
“We are still not in agreement over the price for the player but we’ll be near to the conclusion as they made an effort in the last few days,” he added.
City romped to the Premier League last season and are 4/7 with bet365 to make it back-to-back English top-flight titles next year.
The North West club have an abundance of attacking flair in the ranks but the Spanish tactician clearly feels he needs more steel in midfield for the inevitable challenge from Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea.
