A fortunate punter recently won an astounding £264,712 (approximately $323,994) from a mere £50 ($61) wager. The punter has accurately predicted the outcomes in both Premier League and Championship matches through a 13-fold accumulator bet placed on Betfair. The odds for this wager stood at a staggering 5274.10/1.
A Betfair spokesperson announced the news on Saturday evening. They praised the punter for accurately predicting numerous wins and four draws across the Premier League and Championship matches.
“Hats off to the punter who not only predicted a number of wins, but also four draws in matches across the Premier League and Championship,” the spokesperson said.
They expressed that the 88th-minute equalizer by Coventry against Norwich was akin to “rubbed the salt in our wounds.” However, they acknowledged that such outcomes are part of football and extended their sincere congratulations to the winners from everyone at Betfair.
The punter’s selections included wins for Tottenham, Everton, Chelsea, Fulham, Middlesbrough, Blackburn, Leicester, Ipswich and Leeds. They also predicted the draws for Cardiff City vs Watford, Coventry City vs Norwich City, Millwall vs Hull City and Crystal Palace vs Nottingham Forest.
In the Premier League, Tottenham secured a 1-0 victory over Luton despite being reduced to 10 men and facing late pressure. Chelsea bounced back with a 4-1 win over Burnley, while Everton dominated Bournemouth with a 3-0 triumph. Fulham emerged victorious with a 3-1 scoreline against Sheffield United.
In the Championship, Middlesbrough outclassed Sunderland 4-0, even after the controversial dismissal of Dan Neil just before halftime. Blackburn comfortably defeated QPR 4-0, while Leicester maintained their excellent form and defeated Stoke 2-0.
Ipswich triumphed over Preston with a 4-2 score. Leeds clinched a 2-1 win over Bristol City thanks to Joel Piroe’s second-half strike, while the clash between Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest ended in a goalless draw.
Thrilling occurrences happened in the final three legs of the punter’s accumulator. In the second half, Watford staged a comeback to draw 1-1 with Cardiff. Millwall fought back to secure a 2-2 draw against Hull.
However, the most nerve-wracking moment took place at the Coventry Building Society Arena, where Ben Gibson’s 88th-minute own goal ensured a 1-1 draw between Coventry and Norwich, leading to the punter’s incredible £264,712 win.
