In the latest Liverpool news, club captain Jordan Henderson has claimed that his side are the underdogs doing into their Champions League semi-final clash with Roma.

Jurgen Klopp’s men have home advantage for Tuesday’s meeting and they reached the final four after overcoming Manchester City in the quarter-finals.

Roma shocked the world of football earlier this month when they beat Barcelona at the Stadio Olimpico to reach their first semi-final in Europe in 27 years.

Henderson believes Roma’s win makes them the favourites, even though Liverpool have only lost at home on one occasion this season.

He told Sky Sports: “You look at their last game – they knocked Barcelona out and so have really laid down a marker for the Champions League.

“They are the team to beat so we have to go out there and do what we do which is give everything and do what the manager wants us to do. If we can do that it gives us a better chance of getting to the final.

“I still see us as going into this game as the underdog with them going and beating Barcelona, who were probably favourites before the last round.

“It will have to be the perfect performance to get a good result.”

The Reds could welcome back Nathaniel Clyne although the right-back may well start on the bench, with Trent Alexander-Arnold set to get the nod.

The likes of Dejan Lovren, Andrew Robertson, Roberto Firmino and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could all return as Klopp looks to lay down a marker ahead of the second leg in the Italian capital.

Roma’s Diego Perotti may make a return after being sidelined for three weeks, but Rick Karsdorp and Gregoire Defrel are set to miss out with injury.

A win for the Reds would put them in a great position ahead of the return leg and Liverpool are 8/15 with BetStars to overcome their Italian opponents.
