Esports operator Oddin.gg has been granted sports betting licenses in both Kansas and Wyoming. Oddin.gg was issued a temporary supplier license by the Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission and approved for an Online Sports Wagering Vendor Permit by the Wyoming Gaming Commission. The approvals authorize the company to supply its esports betting products to licensed operators in both states.

The new additions bring Oddin.gg's US licensing footprint to eight jurisdictions. Founded in 2018, the company operates exclusively in the esports betting realm in its sports betting offerings. Founded in 2018, the company is based in Prague, Czechia. Oddin.gg has a US office in Las Vegas.

Kansas and Wyoming offer different platforms for Oddin.gg. Kansas has offered regulated sports wagering since September 2022. Its operators compete for the same bettors, largely on the same sports calendar. Esports will give sportsbooks a way to differentiate by offering a betting product built around the titles a younger audience already watches. And it will be delivered through infrastructure vetted by regulators.

Wyoming runs one of the few fully online sports betting markets in the US. Since its launch in September 2021, the state has required no retail presence. That means operators in the state compete entirely on the strength of their digital product. That's the type of environment that should skew toward a younger audience. In such a market, a prominent esports vertical could prove to be a key offering rather than an afterthought.

Regulators in both states have approved Oddin.gg's end-to-end ecosystem. That includes odds feeds, risk management, trading services, and engagement products. There will also be supply options available to operators in each state.

"State regulators have done serious work building supplier frameworks that hold every product in the sportsbook to the same standard, and esports belongs inside that structure, not adjacent to it," Martin Lycka, VP of Institutional Affairs at Oddin.gg, said in a release. "Kansas and Wyoming took different paths to regulated wagering, but the principle behind each of our licenses is the same: esports betting should be supplied with the same regulatory rigor as any other vertical."

Kansas and Wyoming join New Jersey, Colorado, West Virginia, Ohio, Arizona, and Maryland as states in the US that have granted a sports betting license to Oddin.gg.

Esports betting has grown slowly in the US market

The US sports betting market hasn't jumped on board the esports betting trend as quickly as other jurisdictions around the world. While there are 39 states and the District of Columbia that offer legal and regulated sports betting in the USA, only 19 of those states allow betting on esports.

The main concern with esports betting stems from the fact that many players and the fanbase are extremely young. Often, it's younger than the legal betting age in the state. Fearing that offering esports betting could be encouraging underage betting, some states are avoiding esports betting altogether.

Oddin.gg is succeeding where others have failed

Oddin.gg offers live sports betting markets on 11 core titles. They include Counter-Strike, League of Legends, DOTA 2, Valorant, MLBB, Rainbow Six, CoD, King of Glory, Wild Rift, and Arena of Valor.

The company is succeeding where others have failed. Vie.gg launched an esports-only betting platform in New Jersey in 2021. It lasted seven months.

"Licensing is what turns esports from an idea operators like into a product they can launch with confidence," said Marek Suchar, Co-Founder of Oddin.gg. "What we bring to these markets is depth: the market coverage, trading expertise, and in-play stability that make esports perform like a core vertical rather than a side offering."
