Bet365 has launched its online sportsbook in Washington, D.C., marking the latest step in the company’s continued expansion across the U.S. market. This move comes on the heels of the company's recent launch in West Virginia. The Bet365 sportsbook is now live in 19 U.S. markets, including 18 states.

In the past couple of years, the company has really ramped up its footprint across the USA. As recently as May of 2025, Bet365 was only legal and regulated in 13 U.S. states. There's been a definite plan in the growth of Bet365 across the USA. The company has been very patient in growing its product in the U.S. market.

Bet365 is suddenly expanding quickly

Since full access to legal and regulated sports betting was approved in the USA by a 2018 Supreme Court ruling, Bet365 has taken a measured approach to entering the U.S. market. As other sites like UniBet, Betway, and Fox Bet rushed in with both feet and soon fell by the wayside, Bet365 chose to wade into these new waters carefully and cautiously.

In 2025, that game plan appeared to change. As of May 2025, Bet365 was present in 13 U.S. states. At the time, Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Virginia were home to its sports betting sites.

Bet365 opened a US headquarters in Colorado, hiring some 1,000 employees. In the past year, the company has launched sports betting sites in five new states: Michigan, West Virginia, Missouri, Maryland, and Kansas.

The company was taking its time to learn the new market

Bet365 is a worldwide powerhouse in sports betting. The British-based company is a major player in its homeland. Company CEO Denise Coates is the highest-paid female corporate executive in the United Kingdom. Her estimated net worth is $8.1 billion.

The company is a major player in the industry in both European and Asian markets. Still, they didn't assume that status would mean a thing as they landed in the U.S. sports betting landscape.

“For us to be able to translate the success, it’s really taken a lot of patience and a deep understanding of that North American betting landscape,” Bet365 Chief Marketing Officer Stephanie Deflora said during a fireside chat at SBC Summit Americas.

“We could not just take the playbook from the UK or another European country and copy that into the United States. Every state ... is unique in its own way.”

Bet365 is integrating with pro sports teams in their new markets

One of the unique aspects of the Washington, D.C. market is that it allows bettors as young as 18. The vast majority of U.S. markets hold the minimum age to bet at 21,.

“Bringing Bet365 to our nation’s capital expands our reach in the U.S. and establishes our presence in one of the country’s most dynamic sports markets,” Trip Stoddard, Head of Development at Bet365, said in a statement.

Upon arrival in D.C., the company is also implementing another plan that's become instrumental in their approach to integration into a new market. They have formed a partnership with Monumental Sports. That company owns the NBA Washington Wizards, WNBA Washington Mystics, and NHL Washington Capitals. Bet365 will be the official sports betting partner of all three teams. That gives the company access to signage in the arena, and prime advertising on their broadcasts.

“Our partnership with Monumental Sports & Entertainment gives us an exciting opportunity to introduce bet365 to Capitals, Wizards and Mystics fans and build lasting connections across Washington, D.C.” Stoddard said.

The company followed a similar blueprint when launching in Michigan. Bet365 and Ilitch Sports and Entertainment, owners of the NHL Detroit Red Wings and MLB Detroit Tigers, formed a partnership.
