The Kansas Lottery has announced that six mobile sports betting apps will be available next month, with a soft launch at noon on September 1, signaling the beginning of operations for a number of sports betting applications in Kansas.
According to reports, Hollywood Casino has teamed up with Barstool Sports for its mobile-betting app. Meanwhile, Hollywood Casino confirmed Friday that it will also begin accepting wagers at its temporary sportsbook facility.
“We can’t wait for the upcoming football season and welcoming patrons from Kansas, Missouri and beyond to what we expect to be the best sportsbook in the entire Midwest,” Hollywood Casino’s vice president and general manager, Lydia Garvey, said.
The casino’s temporary sportsbook will have five betting windows, 30 kiosks, and 45 televisions for watching the action, in addition to odds boards.
Hollywood Casino’s representative said that the facility is also preparing for the permanent sportsbook development, which is scheduled to be finished this fall. It will feature a restaurant, extra games, and accessibility to The Patio.
Furthermore, the Kansas Star Casino in Mulvane, which has partnered with FanDuel for mobile app wagers, will also open its on-site sportsbook on September 1.
On the other hand, following a statewide complete debut, two other casinos in Kansas, including Penn Entertainment’s Hollywood Casino in Kansas City, will begin running new on-site sportsbooks on September 8.
While a full selection of betting options will be accessible by September 8, casinos and mobile applications in Kansas will be required to accept bets for NFL, college football, and MLB events at the time of the soft launch.
“It just adds some runaway to make sure everything’s safe, secure and functional,” a spokesman for the Kansas Lottery said of the soft launch.
In the upcoming weeks, the Kansas Crossing Casino in Pittsburg, which has agreements with three mobile betting apps, will reveal its plans for on-site sportsbooks.
Boot Hill Casino and Resort in Dodge City, which has an agreement with DraftKings for mobile gambling, will follow suit.
Kansas Lottery also said that the state will not have any limitations on the number of people who can sign up or how big wagers can be placed starting on September 1, in contrast to several other states.
According to Kansas regulations, each casino may work with a maximum of three iGaming operators.
