In the latest Juventus news, captain Giorgio Chiellini has urged the players to focus on Serie A and the task of overhauling Napoli at the top of the table.
The Old Lady currently sit second in the Italian top-flight standings, just one point behind the Partenopei.
They are still very much on course for a seventh consecutive Scudetto and will be full of confidence after coming from behind to beat Tottenham 2-1 at Wembley to pull off a 3-2 aggregate success, booking their spot in the Champions League quarter-finals in the process.
Gonzalo Higuain and Paulo Dybala bagged the goals in north London as coach Massimiliano Allegri got the better of Spurs counterpart Mauricio Pochettino, but Chiellini admits it is now back to the league battle with Napoli.
“We certainly hope to take over the top spot, maybe even this weekend if only for a few hours,” he told the club’s official website.
Napoli face Inter Milan in the final Serie A match of the weekend on Sunday evening in what could be a pivotal day in the race for the title.
The Nerazzurri are still in with a chance of a Champions League place and will certainly give the Naples outfit a run for their money at the San Siro.
Games come thick and fast for Juve over the next seven days – they face Atalanta on Wednesday before a clash with SPAL next Saturday – and former Italy international Chiellini knows they must concentrate on getting the job done despite the obvious fatigue.
“We will need all of our physical and mental energy and need to concentrate well,” added Chiellini. “We need to put the Champions League behind us because the next few days are very important.”
