Calling all Baton Rouge bettors! The long wait for legal and live betting in the state of Louisiana is finally over. As of last October, a number of betting operators welcomed punters through their doors where they could at last grab a slice of the betting action right on their doorsteps.
Today we’ll run over the latest situation surrounding sports betting in the capital city of Louisiana, Baton Rouge.
What’s the latest status of sports betting in Baton Rouge?
When Governor John Bel Edwards signed the first bills in June 2021 to make betting in Louisiana legal, several betting operators were poised ready to open up their bricks & mortar casinos. Today, residents and visitors to Baton Rouge can physically gamble in Hollywood Casino, Belle of Baton Rouge, and L’Auberge Casino. However, only the latter, L’Auberge Casino, has a sportsbook facility where you can place a wager on your favorite game. Whilst this is the only physical venue where you can place a sports bet in Baton Rouge at present, we do understand that several other casinos are applying for sportsbook licenses through the state.

Can I bet online in Baton Rouge?
You betcha! On January 28, 2022, the Louisiana Gaming Control Board passed the necessary jurisdiction to allow online, mobile sports betting to go ahead with six licensed and regulated sportsbooks opening up their digital front door. This is great news for Baton Rouge bettors. Now you don’t have to even leave your front door to place a wager on the big game. Instead, just go online from your pc or smartphone and browse to your preferred betting site. At present these are limited to
Caesars Sportsbook LA,
BetMGM LA Sportsbook, BetRivers LA Sportsbook,
Barstool Sportsbook, FanDuel Sportsbook, and
DraftKings LA Sportsbook.
Each operator has some fantastic sign-up bonus offers, so be sure to read our other reviews here on betting.net™ to find out the biggest, boldest, and best offers Baton Rouge bookies have to offer.
What sports can I bet on?
Whether you follow Football, Baseball, Basketball or Louisiana college sports, you’re sure to find all live LA sportsbooks will offer comprehensive and competitive betting markets and odds. Many bettors will want to back their favorite local teams. Louisiana sports history is rich, varied and vibrant with Australian Rules Football and even Women’s Flat Track Roller Derby featuring! So, if Baton Rouge residents prefer to stay loyal to the LSU Tigers, you’ll be pleased to know that you’ll be able to legally wager on them as Louisiana’s sports betting regulatory bill permits betting on college sports too.

Can everyone in Baton Rouge bet on sports?
If you are aged 21 and over you can register for an online betting account today with any of the six sportsbooks mentioned above. Most of the city areas areas voted yes to legalization, so
online sports betting in New Orleans, Shreveport and Lafayette is all good. It is worth noting however, that there were 9 parishes that voted against legalization, so you cannot place a bet if you are in Caldwell, Catahoula, Franklin, Jackson, LaSalle, Sabine, Union, West Carroll or Winn. Fortunately, Baton Rouge is not affected by this ruling, so you are free to sign-up and kick-start your Louisiana betting journey.
