Famous Canadian rapper Drake is in the news once more as he won a huge bet of $2,296,211.30 on the contestants Paddy Pimblett and Molly McCann. The gamble that Drake made resulted in a stunning $3,723,077 in winnings, which led McCann to request that Drake purchase a Rolex watch as a gift for her.
The moment was also shared by UFC on their Twitter account on Saturday, saying “looks like Drake is riding big with the Scousers at #UFCLondon.”
After losing wagers on previous UFC fights, Drake will find this to be a breath of fresh air.
Pimblett needed to defeat Jordan Leavitt in the game, while McCann needed to defeat Hannah Goldy for the betting winning moment to occur. On Saturday at UFC Fight Night 208, Pimblett (19-3 MMA, 3-0 UFC) won the fans with a second-round submission victory over Leavitt (10-2 MMA, 3-2 UFC), while McCann prevailed over Hannah Goldy by TKO.
Pimblett appeared to be in trouble throughout the opening round as Leavitt repeatedly threatened to take him out of the game. The Liverpool player persisted, though, in attempting to get an advantage, and when he took the decision to lock Leavitt, the round was finally finished.
Another native of Liverpool, McCann astonished the crowd in the UFC when he forced Goldy and knock out the American fighter in one round by ending the fight with many blows.
In a post-fight interview, she thanked her supporters, particularly those from Britain, and emphasized the moment when she elbowed Goldy.
“I don’t know if I’ve ever seen this in combat sports, in the UK people getting this behind a female athlete. That energy you bring gets you through,” McCann said.
“I will not let you down, not ever. Have you ever seen lightning strike twice [referring to the elbow]? Well now you have,” she added.
