Delaware Park re-opens with new Vegas glamor after $10M upgrade

The Delaware Park Casino recently unveiled its upgraded gaming floor following a $10 million project renovation.

“We’re bringing Las Vegas to right here in Delaware,” Terry Glebocki, president and general manager of Delaware Park Casino & Racing, said during the opening ceremony this week. “The antiques are gone. It’s glitz and glamour now.”

The upgraded Delaware Park Casino now features 1,500 of the latest slot machines and approximately 400 classics favored by older gamblers. Modern three-pod slot bases are replacing the old slot rows, enhancing player comfort.

Table games have increased to 34, including a high-limit table pit offering midi baccarat, EZ baccarat and blackjack.

The newly established “Link Lounge” showcases 49 popular games from Aristocrat Gaming, including Buffalo Link, Dragon Link and Lightning Dollar Link. A high-limit slot room has also been introduced.

Gaming, dining and reward

Delaware Park, one of three casinos in the state alongside Bally’s Dover and Harrington Raceway & Casino, operates slots as video lottery terminals (VLTs) for the Delaware Lottery. The state lottery manages the central VLT system.

Racinos retain 43 percent of each VLT machine’s gross revenue, with 38 percent going to the lottery. Eleven percent supports horse racing purses, and the remaining 8 percent covers vendor fees.

In the fiscal year 2022, the three casinos won $414.3 million on slots and $53.7 million on table games. Delaware Park led with $163.2 million from slots and $24.5 million from table games.

The $10 million renovation also brings new dining options. Foo Noodle is a pan-Asian quick-service noodle bar, while R Bar, adjacent to the high-limit slot room, offers seasonal hand-crafted cocktails and bar-top slots.

Rooney’s, a Delaware Park staple, now features an upgraded menu, including a brisket cheesesteak that has become a patron favorite, with over 1,000 orders since its introduction this month.

Lastly, the casino’s center now houses the brand-new rewards club, where loyalty members can check offers, re-print cards, claim sweepstakes and engage in the program.
