Chelsea News: Rudiger heaps praise on Sarri

In the latest Chelsea news, defender Antonio Rudiger has praised new boss Maurizio Sarri and team-mates N’Golo Kante and Eden Hazard.

Former Napoli manager Sarri replaced fellow Italian Antonio Conte over the summer after a disappointing 2017-18 Premier League campaign as the Blues missed out on a spot in the Champions League.

Chelsea have made a strong start to the season and sit second in the table with a maximum 12 points from four games, with Sarri’s side 10/1 to win the Premier League outright with bet365.

Rudiger feels Chelsea are a much stronger side this season and he has also hailed the efforts of France international Kante and Belgium star Hazard, who he feels have hit the ground running despite long World Cup campaigns.

“He wants us to press high compared to last season when everyone knows we sat back,” he told the Mail On Sunday.

“Now it is different. We create a lot of chances and for me that’s very good. Mostly he likes the defenders to play the ball short and keep possession.

“I have shown so far I can do it but I want to improve every day. He is a coach who is not happy, he is always saying you can do better, and that keeps you alive.

“To be honest, I’m surprised how well we’ve done because players like Eden Hazard and N’Golo Kante had big World Cups and came back late for training. They are in good shape and that’s impressive.”

Chelsea entertain Cardiff in their next fixture on September 15 and then face a Europa League game at PAOK Salonika the following Tuesday.
