In the latest Chelsea news, N’Golo Kante has dismissed speculation linking him with a move away from the Londoners and says he remains committed to the club despite the fact they could miss out on Champions League football for next season.
Big-spending Paris Saint-Germain have been linked with the midfielder ahead of the summer transfer window and there had been claims that the France international would fancy a move to the Parc des Princes with Chelsea struggling to make the top four in the Premier League.
However, the former Leicester star says he has no desire to leave Stamford Bridge and remains fully committed to the club.
Kante has been a key man for Antiono Conte and has made 38 appearances in all competitions, scoring one goal this season. He remains under contract until 2021 and doesn’t seem affected by talk he’s a top target for PSG, who would not be afraid to offer in excess of £60million to try and land the 26-year-old.
Kante told the London Evening Standard: “I am at home. It is my club, I am a Chelsea player. This is my second year at Chelsea. After what happened last season, it was a very good one for us because we got to celebrate winning the title.”
Chelsea are currently fifth in the table, five points behind Spurs directly above them, and face a real fight to secure Champions League football for next season with just eight games remaining.
Kante, who joined from the Foxes for around £32m in July 2016 and helped Chelsea win the title last season, insists he has not given up on a top-four finish though and has vowed to battle until the end of the campaign, while he also hopes to lift the FA Cup for the Blues ahead of a semi-final against Southampton next month.
He added: “In the second season, I have got to play in the Champions League and we are going again to finish in the top four. We will fight until the end to finish in the top four and to get in a Champions League position.
“We also have the FA Cup to play for – it is a good competition. Last season we failed in the final. It is the only trophy we can win this season, so we have to give everything to get to the final and win it.”
Kante is part of the France squad for their friendlies this week against Colombia (Friday) and Russia (March 27) and is expected to be a key man for Didier Deschamps this summer at the World Cup.
Following the international break, Chelsea will resume their challenge for a top-four finish with a big home game against rivals Spurs on April 1 before a home game against West Ham follows on April 8.
