In the latest Chelsea news, Ross Barkley has stated his opinion that Eden Hazard is “probably” the best in the world on current form.
The Belgian helped his country finish third at the World Cup and after deciding to stay at Stamford Bridge amidst rumours of a move to Real Madrid, has carried his strong form into the new season.
Hazard netted his sixth goal in as many games for club and country, producing a fantastic 85th minute solo strike to see his side through to the fourth round of the Carabao Cup with a dramatic 2-1 victory over Liverpool.
Next up for the Blues is a familiar face, as the Reds travel to the capital to face them in Saturday’s late game.
A victory may finally prompt Maurizio Sarri to admit his side are in the title race and they are 11/1 to win a sixth Premier League crown with bet365.
Hazard certainly seems to be thriving under Sarri’s more progressive tactics, as is Barkley, who appears to be rediscovering his form after a difficult 18 months with injury and struggling to settle following his move from Everton.
The England international says the 27-year-old’s consistency day in, day out has impressed him since his return from the World Cup, adding that he is “probably” the best in the world on current form.
“You see him do that every day in training so you’re not surprised when you see him do it in a game like that – but what a goal,” he is quoted as saying by The Guardian. “He’s one of the best players in the world and he shows it.
“He’s been showing it for the last five or six years and he is establishing himself in the top three players in the world.
“At the minute, he’s probably the best player in the world, the way he is playing.”
