In the latest Chelsea news, midfielder Cesc Fabregas admits his side need to repay their fans and win the FA Cup this weekend after last year’s heartache.
Chelsea lost the 2017 final to Arsenal, with the Gunners producing a sensational performance at Wembley.
The Blues were then expected to defend their Premier League title this season but they were unable to mount any real challenge and Manchester City eventually cruised home.
However, Antonio Conte’s job is on the line this weekend as Chelsea try to end the year with silverware by beating Manchester United in the FA Cup final.
They have failed to qualify for the Champions League for next season and Fabregas admits losing is not an option this weekend.
“You don’t want to be on the back of losing two FA Cup finals in a row,” Fabregas told reporters.
“Last year we didn’t play well. Arsenal were on top of us and I think they deserved to win. It would’ve been a fantastic season winning the double. We have this regret in our head and we want to make it right this time for sure.”
The Spaniard has backed Eden Hazard to be the difference during the match at Wembley, with the Belgian looking to find his form before the World Cup.
United have heavily marked Hazard in their last two meetings but Fabregas believes he can break free and make a huge contribution.
“He’s a fantastic player. When he’s on his day he can be unstoppable,” said Fabregas.
“We have to make sure we give him the right service so he can work his magic and give us a good performance, because we will need that.”
Chelsea are the slight outsiders for Saturday’s encounter and they can be backed to win the FA Cup in the Full Time Result market with Bet365 at odds of 19/10.
