In the latest Chelsea news, goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has refused to commit his future to the club while also speculating about star forward Eden Hazard’s.
The Belgian number one is preparing to fly home from Russia after he helped his country to their best ever World Cup finish following their 2-0 win over England in the third-place play off.
However, during the tournament, speculation over his future has only grown, with Real Madrid seemingly being constantly linked with a move for him.
It is a transfer that Courtois would likely be accepting of, given the fact that his children still live in Madrid, following his three-year loan spell at Atletico.
Courtois has also been speaking about Hazard’s future, with the former Lille man also touted for a move to the Bernabeu.
The Spanish giants will be looking for a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo, who recently joined Juventus for a fee potentially reaching £105 million.
And Courtois hopes to be with Hazard next season, but has not committed to confirming where that will be, with new manager Maurizio Sarri perhaps yet to determine his plans after only recently being appointed at Chelsea, who are available at 11/1 to win the Premier League with Betfair.
“Wherever I go, Hazard must come along. We will not let each other go. We’ll see. Now first vacation. And agree with my entourage in between,” Courtois said.
“Now I’m going to talk to my manager to see what the possibilities are.
“All options are open to me. Also stay at Chelsea, yes. People always complain that players do not comply with their contracts, but maybe I will.
“I do not think they will keep someone with my qualities on the bench, even if I do not sign. But maybe that’s possible because I like being in London.”
