In the past week, 14 bowl games have been played. In the three games where Power Five Conferenced schools played against the Other Five Conferenced schools, the Other Five Conferenced teams pulled out the victory (Central Florida, Army, and Utah State). There are only four more opportunities for these division of conferences to play each other (other than Cincinnati playing in the Semi-Championship) in the post-Christmas bowls.
Out of the regular non-Championship bowls, that is only an 18% rate of these two divisions playing each other. This is mainly due to the fact, that the Power Five schools don’t want to be matched up against the Other Five. When there are big upsets, it diminishes the perception of power in the Power Five schools, which influences profit. It is a money game and the Power Five Conferences are dictating and ruining college football.
The post-Christmas Bowls mainly highlight Power Five schools playing each other, but don’t forget to bet on the underdogs. Brush up on all the best betting strategies for college football before the post-Christmas bowls.
These two teams played great this year. Top QB prospect, Kenny Pickett of Pitt, has thrown for 67%, 4,319 yards, and 42 touchdowns this year alone. Pickett’s favorite target is sophomore Jordan Addison, who has caught 1,479 yards with 18 touchdowns. Michigan State was the only team to beat Michigan this year, but their weakness is defending the pass. They give up an excruciating 338 yards in the air per game, and Pitt will challenge that number. Take Pitt at +2.5/+120.
Freshman QB Caleb Williams of Oklahoma has stepped in and has been impressive. These two teams run similar styles of balanced offenses and run-stopping defenses. However, Oklahoma holds the slight edge with a better defense. The Oregon Ducks have lost two of their last three games, and have somehow given up exactly 38 points in their last four games in a row (twice against Utah). Take the Sooners and their better winning streak at -4.5/-200.
Clemson is playing on a five game winning streak, and has only lost to top tier opponents (Pitt, Georgia, & NC State). However, they only have one quality win (Wake Forest). Similarly, Iowa State has an impressive win over Oklahoma State for their only win against a ranked team. Iowa State is a much better passing team, and unfortunately Clemson is weaker against the pass. Pick the Cyclones to upset Clemson’s winning streak at +1/-105.
This game highlights an impressive top Other Five Conference school against a big name powerhouse team in Auburn. For any sports’ betters, or even fans who loves a good underdog story, this is it. Houston throws the ball a little better, and they defend the ball a lot better. Auburn struggles with defending the pass and this game should be won by Houston by multiple scores. Take Houston at +2.5/+110 easily.
UCLA has lost to better schools (Fresno St., Arizona St., Oregon, & Utah), and while NC State may have won one more game, it is because they play in an easier conference. The Wolfpack have only one impressive win, and that was against Clemson in double overtime. UCLA has a high-powered balanced offensive attack that overwhelms opponents. Take the Bruins at +1.5/+100.
