Tanner Flynn, a bettor who also works as a tech salesman from Nashville, has put his money on the Colorado Avalanche to beat the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 2022 Stanley Cup Final. The Avalanche have a chance to lift their third Stanley Cup trophy in the franchise history in Game 5 this Friday as they are now leading 3-1 in the series.
What makes Flynn different than any other bettors is he predicted the previous winners of other major sports finals back in 2020 and won over $20,000 for those bets, his biggest score ever.
Flynn placed a bet with FanDuel on July 7, 2020 for Super Bowl LV between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Kansas City Chiefs. He put his $8 parlay on the Bucs, who were 15-1 to win the Vince Lombardi trophy at that time. Tom Brady and co would eventually thrash the Chiefs 31-9, giving Flynn’s wild parlay a success and it paid out at around 2,600-1 odds.
Flynn had hit the other four parlays he placed before:
Kamaru Usman (-300) beat Jorge Masvidal on July 11, 2020, in UFC 251
The Los Angeles Lakers (+260) won the 2020 NBA Finals
The Los Angeles Dodgers (+380) won the 2020 World Series
The Tampa Bay Lightning (+600) won the 2020 Stanley Cup
“That night’s a blur,” Flynn told ESPN. “I was extremely intoxicated and couldn’t figure out how to turn off my Twitter notifications, so the whole night, it was bzzz, bzzz, bzzz, nonstop.”
Fast forward to this year, Flynn is getting closer to hit his parlay again this season. He had friends telling him not to pick the Golden State Warriors for the NBA Finals, but he ignored his friend and did it anyway.
Flynn also placed a bet for the Los Angeles Rams to win the Super Bowl, the Georgia Bulldogs to win the NCAA Basketball Championship and the Avalanche to win the Stanley Cup.
He added a random UFC fight and chose UFC 21. He picked Israel Adesanya to defeat Robert Whitaker in February. Flynn placed the $25 five-leg bet with FanDuel at +136,367 odds. If Avalanche won this Friday, he would get $34,116.88. As for Adesanya, the Bulldogs, Rams and Warriors have done their parts for Flynn.
He has taken some precautions by hedging his parlay with bets worth around $2,500 on the Lightning to beat the Avalanche.
“Hopefully, we’re good on hedging,” said Flynn, who is going to pay off his Tesla with this money later if he wins. “If we go to a Game 7, then I will probably reevaluate it.”
FanDuel is currently offering him $20,600 to cash out early, but Flynn is waiting for Friday.
