AL WILD CARD PLAYOFFS

TAMPA BAY RAYS vs CLEVELAND GUARDIANS

In four of six games, the Rays lost to the Guardians this year. They only scored 18 runs and allowed 22 runs. All three series games decided by one run when they met last week. Two 2-1 defeats followed a 6-5 win.

Expect similar tight games to be played when they reunite in Wild Card Series.

This season, Cleveland is the better team, at least in the late season. Tampa has been on an losing streak. They will host the games in Cleveland, which is another advantage for Guardians.

Prediction: Cleveland in 2 games

TORONTO BLUE JAYS vs SEATTLE MARINERS

Toronto currently stands at 2-5 against the Mariners in their season series. The sides met twice, with Toronto winning the first series 2-1 at home in May followed by four consecutive losses at Seattle in July.

Toronto is the hotter team, and they have a home-field advantage. Although Seattle’s offense may not be strong enough, their bullpen could help. This series is difficult to pick because of the bullpen, but I believe the Jays will do better.

Prediction: Blue Jays will be in 3

NL WILD CARD PLAYOFFS

ST. LOUIS CARDINALS vs PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES

The Phillies went 4-3 against the Cardinals this season. Nolan Arenado, Paul Goldschmidt and Aaron Nola were the MVP candidates. They went 16-for-72 (.222) against Zack Wheeler and Aaron Nola and had no strikeouts or home runs.

They faced off the last time Philly reached the playoffs. St. Louis won 3-2 in the 2011 NLDS. After a decade of being in playoffs, Philly is more motivated that St. Louis. The Cardinals have better starting pitching and are more motivated to win the series. However, I still believe that they will win a great series.

Prediction: Cardinals in 3.

NEW YORK METS vs SAN DIEGO PADRES

The New York Mets have an advantage at home because they are more skilled and have a home-field advantage. The Mets lost four out of six regular season games to the Padres. The Padres won two of three in San Diego in May and two at Citi Field in July. The Mets will pitch Max Scherzer or Jacob DeGrom in game one and two.
