In the latest Atletico Madrid news, Antoine Griezmann has revealed that he wants his future resolved before he heads off to this summer’s World Cup with France.

Speculation has surrounded the 26-year-old’s future at the Wanda Metropolitano for a number of months, with Manchester United reportedly showing strong interest in him last summer.

However, a switch to the Premier League failed to materialise, with Griezmann instead opting to stick with Atleti, although speculation has since gathered pace that a move to Barcelona could now be on the cards.

The thought of Griezmann teaming up with the likes of Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez at the Camp Nou next season is certainly an exciting one, particularly if the Frenchman were to replicate the recent form that has seen him net 10 goals in his last seven appearances across all competitions.

It remains to be seen whether the former Real Sociedad player will move on to pastures new during the summer, but one thing he has confirmed is that he wants his future to be resolved before he heads to the World Cup.

“I want to travel to Russia without this concern,” he told L’Equipe. “It’s not about knowing where I’ll play, but about having the peace of mind if I’m still in one place or another.”

The Macon-born star is currently away with the national team preparing for their friendlies against Colombia and Russia.

Griezmann finished third in the 2016 Ballon d’Or and a move to Barcelona could enhance his chances of winning that accolade in the future, although his main concern, for the time being, is to win trophies at both club and international level.

“When I’m happy, everything’s fine,” he added. “I want to win a World Cup or the Champions League, then the Ballon d’Or will come, if it has to come.”

This year could certainly be an exciting one for Griezmann, as Atleti remain in the hunt to win the Europa League, while France are among the front-runners to claim World Cup glory this summer.
