In the latest Arsenal news, Aaron Ramsey has admitted he has yet to reach an agreement over a new contract at the Emirates with his long-term future at the club still uncertain.
The Wales international is now in the final year of his contract and his agent has been in talks with the club over new terms for some time.
It was hoped the midfielder would have put pen to paper by now with the new Premier League season getting underway in just over a fortnight’s time but Ramsey says an agreement remains out of reach for the time being.
He told Sky Sports: “We’ll see what happens, but my agent and the club are talking. I’m not sure exactly what it hinges on, I’m just leaving it to them to discuss and to figure it out but we are yet to come to an agreement.
“That’s something that my agent and the club are discussing to try and get something done.”
New Gunners boss Unai Emery made it clear soon after being officially unveiled that he wanted Ramsey to commit his long-term future to the club and Arsenal will be wary of losing another key player who is coming towards the end of his contract like when Alexis Sanchez exited for Manchester United in January.
Ramsey has been a vital member of the Arsenal first team since joining from Cardiff in 2011, scoring 59 goals in 331 appearances, and will have no shortage of admirers should he decide not to sign a new deal at the Emirates.
Arsenal finished sixth last season in what proved to be long-serving boss Arsene Wenger’s last campaign in charge but they will hope to fight their way back into the top four in the Premier League in the upcoming campaign with Unibet offering odds of 2/1 on a top-four finish, while they are 25/1 to win the title outright.
